some guy on another board was asking if he could make a glass countertop for a very large tank... apparently people are gonna use it to put computers on <shrugs> I thought arcylic, but that would mar very easily, so I added a glass insert to it... I'm still not sure if even the acrylic wold...

last call for opinions, I'm ordering today... btw, I saw a 2x96 PC Custom Sealife hood at my LFS the other day and I liked how it looked, so this should be very similar...

The tank is in my office, and the fans are very noisy, the lights are very warm and the reef bug faded from me pretty quickly... My love has always been the fish and possibly anemones, but a full on SPS reef just isn't my bag... I know this now =) Luckily I have a buddy that needs more...

It's a new bulb design by Custom Sealife which basically bends the standard twin tube power compact into 4 tubes... It makes a 96w, 18"x8" bulb, perfect for tight quarters that need some light... The bulb is a 50/50 bulb, so I'm thinking it should look pretty good...

Charging for a bristle worm is the salt water equivalent to selling ramshorn snails... I have one in my tank that is about 15" long stretched out, ya wanna send him over for it? EDIT: Btw, they're not poisonous, however they ARE painful if you lay yer hand on one... Those bristles come off...

I'd suggest a plastic coat hanger and nude panty hose... My fish find it appealing =)

Mandarins require live food, copepods to be specific, which grow mainly on your LR, but also in the sand... Areas of lush algae are wonderful places for them to hunt. A copepod population sufficient to sustain a Mandarin takes about 8 months to become established on about 100lbs of LR...

And thinking along the lines of worst case scenario, I believe a sump pump and floor drain would be in order... 718 gallons vs a 10 gallon shop vac in the event something TERRIBLE occurs is not a fair fight.. Ya know?

Has anyone used this yet? I'm planning to replace the halides (2x175) with them for my 55... The wattage is sufficient for my needs... Opinions?
