i found water inside on of my aqueon heaters as well, no idea when it got in there.

did you redo the silicone in the tank when you redid the brace, chances are if it broke, the silicone was probably failing and all the pressure went onto the brace.

you can get an aquaclear 70 off amazon for 35 but it appears you are in a rush to get it locally the emperor 400 is a ton louder then my aquaclear 110. i am unsure if the hot magnum is worth the money. the aquaclear 110 is a lot of water movement, if they have the 70 back in stock, i think...

i think most wet dry filters work around the same, don't think there are too many differences between the different makes i am currently setting up a 85g drilled acrylic tank, and i bought a aqualine wet dry off the well known auction site. i went with one that they rated for 175 gallons...

instructions say to make sure that the oring is wet, could try a bit of water, dont think teflon take is a good idea.

i had aquaclear 110, thing was silent for a week, then it started rattling from the lid, returned it and got another, 1 week later it started rattling too. Bad lid design for sure, but otherwise great filter.
