Nano planted 2.5 gallon cube need ideas

Agreed on the betta myth, I had an empty 5 gallon and a rehomed betta to care for though :P The reason I suggested wild type neocaridina was that they seemed like the hardiest beginner friendly species I could find. They're the same species as RCS, but the RCS is a red mutation.

Nano planted 2.5 gallon cube need ideas

Yeah, I have to be honest with you here, 2.5 gallons is pretty much only big enough for RCS imo. I have a betta by himself in my 5 gallon and I wouldn't feel right adding shrimp, because he's hunted all of the crustaceous life in my tank to extinction, he also ate all my baby snails I had in the...

Nano planted 2.5 gallon cube need ideas

Tbh, I do not know. But, I would recommend putting the shrimp in first, and I would doubly recommend looking into their comatibility first. I haven't kept shrimp, but I was considering it and did a lot of research about them. I wasn't going to keep them with fish though, so I didn't really look...

Amano shrimp might be cramped in there, I would go with wild type neocaridina.

    Help

The only thing my research pulled was that kissing fish are very nervous and slow eaters. Are they looking stressed or discolored or anything? You said they're getting thin, I'm just trying to make sure they aren't ill, and not eating because of something else. I had a pair of them when I was...

    Plant advice

Hey! Bert gives some excellent suggestions and advice here, I just wanted to wish you luck! Big thing to consider is how much you want to maintain the plants, and how much you want to spend on everything. Slow growing plants mean less maintenance for you. I have 1 sprig of hornwort in my 5...

    Help

Welcome to the forums! Have you tried a feeding tube? I just got a betta who wouldn't even look at his food until after I started using a feeding tube. What are you feeding them now?

    Betta tank mates

Yeah, I adopted a betta (Damocles) and he ate all the baby snails, detritus worms, crustaceans like daphnia and a few other types in a few days. I don't think he's going to be good with shrimp, and I'm even reconsidering a larger snail. I do want something to help clean the tank though, I would...

    Damocles the betta

Do it! :3 the betta will appreciate it, even if your sister in law doesn't!

    Damocles the betta

His head scar is healing very nicely, already starting to regain its natural color :D he is also very intelligent, he's learned who I am, and he know when I feed him, I've taught him to follow my finger and flare on a hand signal. Took all of about 5 minutes over 3 days...

    Should I add CO2?

I definitely will be posting more pictures once more time has passed, although after a few days of CO2 and about a week after I added azomite, my plants are doing very well. I watched single 2 inch strands of java moss turn into 3 inch x 2 inches wide (with new growth on both sides about 1.5mm...

Advice with creating a breed and feed system in a community tank.

I hope the rescape goes well, unfortunately I just don't know enough about this to give you any good advice. I would only be able to recommend researching what kind of fish you want to use, just basing it off of a search for popular feed fish. After that you have to invent an enclosure for them...

Advice with creating a breed and feed system in a community tank.

Hmm.. Maybe try getting a mesh net breeder box to put inside the tank, with a m/f pair inside the net box. Let them mate and then depending on what breeder box and what fish you select, the fry will escape through the mesh and be eaten. Leaving the parents to safely generate another generation...

Advice with creating a breed and feed system in a community tank.

Firstly, welcome to the forums. Secondly, I don't know how likely it would be to set up feeder fish to breed in that tank. The parents might get eaten. With that said, I would suggest looking at popular choices for feeder fish, selecting a smaller, faster breeding species; and then I suppose...

On a Mission to Help a Betta

That betta is going to look so much better when he's healthy again! I'm excited to see a picture in a couple months! Good deeds should go rewarded, and even though it isn't worth much, you did a good thing and should be proud. Also, I was given professional advice about dealing with superiors a...
