- Just a rookie here, please don't judge me. I have (okay my 4 year old son has) a 5 Gallon Tank with 3 little fish (Blue Guppy, Red Glofish and a Sunset Fire Wag Polly) that I intend to keep happy and safe until my son goes off to college so I don't have to explain why his fish are swimming upside down at the top of the aquarium.
I had fish as a kid that I found to be entirely too much work (2-20 gallon tanks with too many goldfish in each and a poor undergravel filter that didn't do anything to keep the tank clean) so I have been leery of getting my son into it. That is the reason for the small tank but I have already realized that this tank doesn't give me much room to really do much.
Not sure if a guy with a 5 gallon tank really belongs on this forum but I want my son to understand the responsibility that it takes to have a healthy environment for his new pet.
