Hey guys, during the summer I have tons of outdoor ecospheres and mini tanks
My Pygmy sunfish cube gathered this strange hexagonal algae that took over the water column
I’ve been googling it for months. No one has ever mentioned a hexagon form thread algae. No pictures either. It’s a long...
Absolutely female bettas love to surf currents you have to remember they have a lot of control with those short fins
I have 10 girls together with some snails and a few marmokreb cray growout clones
A year on almost from this post, I am happy to say the 20g is cured of all algae
I got rid of the fake rock for lava rock, added multiple aqua soils to the substrate and cut back feeding a little bit
The tank they moved into anyway, has lots of frogbit and Riccia for shelter
And yes, that area behind the rocks is very problematic. This is an east facing window, meaning that is where the hair algae carpets…and thrives off the leftovers
Thanks for your advice I ended up actually moving all the bettas to a tank with a little bit of better cover and haven’t seen a single nip since. This tank is now gonna be reused for a community probably, but for now all it has are my Japanese trapdoor snails breeding like crazy and some aquatic...
Thank you. I did a rescape yesterday that kinda split the tank into thirds: the bog and cave at the left end, a planted reef in the middle, and an iwagumi carpeted section at the very right end.
It looks smaller inside, but even more cohesive and somehow even looks bigger than it did.
Thanks so much I actually get told that a lot when I show my buds at the LFS
I wasn’t going for gasps, but I get them. Definitely my best scape yet, 13 years in…
Sadly the killifish ended up jumping, I thought the floating plants would prevent it. So now there’s 4 medaka to keep that top...
During winter the plant will create these pine cone shaped tubers in the mud or substrate. During spring these emerge into stem plants resembling pogostemon or a smooth mermaid weed. As summer progresses the leaves will broaden and lose their ability to submerge. Great marginal plant, or if you...
Even in the winter here in New York, in sub freezing temperatures, aquatic plants hide in the muddy banks and submerged insulated by leaves and water.
To the right of the Lobelia cardinalis. Last time I had this on my hands I put it underwater without any conversion and it died. But now it’s...
Didnt like the dark areas so I adjusted the flow and created a diagonal bog now I can see everyone and it makes me want to cry tears of joy with the beauty I achieved in this setup
