I've just realized that my fluval canister is not necessary and it spits out microbubbles that drive me crazy, so I've turned it off and sold it on ebay. I have enought LR and LS to provide an effective biofilter and I use RO water to do pwc's and top off's so I'm not really worried about...

Well it's been about 5 weeks now and things are really looking good, I had a bit of a green hair algae problem but it's subsiding now. All levels are good and I'm waiting for a new Warner Marine Hx2 skimmer to replace the prizm. I now have a small cuc, 1 green chromis, and a lawnmower blennie...

Well I guess I'll just have to get by with the prizm till it arives. At least they're in the country though, guess the new intel is that terrorists are trying to start jihad with protein skimmers :D

Oh yeah, since I put the snails in, acclimated by drip for 2 hours, I've noticed that 3 of the astrea snails have moved to the top of the tank at the water level, are they spawning, the third is happily eating the algae on the glass at the bottom.

Well my cycle ended over the weekend, ammonia and nitrite down to zero, nitrate was around 20ppm, changed 20 gallons of water, I have about 34 gallons in the tank, and added 2 peppermint shrimp, 4 astrea, 8 cerinth, and 15 nassarius snails, had an algae bloom and I hope to get it under control...
