Wel,, Done the deed. Was very stressful, trying to get the little things out of the initial tank, much easier when I put them back. Did a 60% water change at the same time. Will possibly do another water change tomorrow.
Time will tell!
Thanks for that.
I will go and get my spare tank, set it up for the purpose, least I can get the old heater to keep the temperature at the right level.
Now four of the tetra's are showing symptons.
I did another water test last night, values were all at the bottom of the scale. I did another water change anyway.
I really need advice on how to proceed with the medication and the filter cartridges.
I don't want to make the wrong decision.

I have a 60L Marina tank.
I have 5 neon tetras
2 shrimp
2 white clouds
2 guppies
2 ottos
Did a water change at the weekend.
Tested last night and
ammonia 0
nitrites were at 25?
Nitrates at 5
So did another water change.
About to retest today and possibly do another water change.
But I...
Yep, I know it should be zero.
With my API kit, I don't think I've ever had a reading that looked like the colours on the chart. Hence why I said it was more yellow than the 0.25 yellow green colour. It is erring more on yellow than green.
I have three male guppies in my 60L tank. Two appear fine, swimming all over the tank.
I've had these for about 6 months now.
Those two do whoever occasionally like to sleep on the bottom of the tank.
The third one, rarely moves. For the past month he mostly stays almost still at the top of...
Plus be mindful of where you place your plants.
I had a plastic plant underneath my filter outlet. Trying to hide my heater.
The girlfriend came home to find a dead fish trapped between the plant and heater.
I have since removed the plant. Not happy at my stupidity.
My 26L tank finished cycling last weekend. Tank is planted.
So on Tuesday, I bought 5 white clouds and lowered my temperature to 24 degrees.
Left them in the dark overnight.
Next day switched the light on. All 5 were pretty active.
Fed them a little each day and tested the water...
Quick (and probably final post for this thread) update.
Tested this morning. NitrItes and Ammonia 0 and NitrAtes still 10. Took a sample to the LFS. All good.
Finally, after 6+ weeks of fishless cycling, I have my first fish in the tank.
I have a few white cloud minnows. I followed...
Quick update:
Sunday Ammonia was below 1, NitrItes were up to 2. Nitrates still 10+
So added a little ammonia.
Mondays readings....
Ammonia 0, NitrItes 0, Nitrates 10+
So think, I just need a PWC and I'm ready to get the LFS to test my water and get a fish or two.
