It's best to condition the water before it reaches the tank. It's actually pretty easy... 2 drops per gallon, so for a 10 L bucket (2.64 gallons), just add 6 drops and you're good to go.

That might make it in to my signature line for work! :D

Aqua clear for the easily maintainable filter basket. The only downside is that they are quite noisy the first few weeks.
