Removing center brace on 4ft tank

Just figure if your tank has a center brace it was put there in order for the rest of the tank to be made of thinner or weaker glass to save the aquarium maker some money. You may be able to redo the brace out of some clear acrylic , but I would have to be confident in my ability to bond the...

Mix the vinegar with water maybe 25/75 , then run it.

    Hole size

I have a 135g 6ft tank and I drilled 1 1/2" holes for 1" bulkheads. I drilled the same for the return but wish I would have went with a smaller return because its hard to find the fittings I want. So I would go with 1 1/2" holes for the drain, and 1" hole for the return.

    Small Cyclone Forming

I'm sure it is somewhat a benefit but the noise is rather annoying, and if you run a protein skimmer, this isn't doing anything your skimmer isn't .

    DIY Live Rock

I've heard concrete can really increase the ph of your tank and leech stuff for a while, I've read somewhere about someone curing their rock for 3 months and changing the water every day, and still the water goes in with a ph of 7 comes out with a ph of 10.

    LED light question?

Also I've noticed when I do a large water change if the coraline algae is out of water for even a shot while it will die. I've had a line in my tank of white coraline algae from doing water changes.

How to Tell if Coral has Too Much or Too Little Light

I had some zoas that didn't ever open under full light (120w LEDs) but didn't die or recede either. Finally moved them to partial shade and they are open all day now and multiplying,

    Question about metal halides

All that matters is the size of the base , the glass doesn't matter. If its the same wattage (or even less wattage I believe ) your good.

Powerheads: best flow for your dough!

I got a used set of tunze 6100's and controller for $300 on ebay, they are a little old, but work great and didn't cost a fortune. The controller alone was $300 new.

    Buying a used Acrylic tank

Try this about the sanded part, try flame polishing, get a torch, bic lighter won't due, but they make little torches that use little cigarette lighters as fuel and put the flame to an out of the way spot, and move the flame around slowly with the tip of the flame just touching the acrylic. You...

    LEDs for a 45 gallon?

I would do 4x50w multi chip LEDs whatever color you like maybe warm white or cool white. Cree has some great lamps like this, I think they are called xpg's for about $30 each. Get you 2 heatsinks around 6-8" x 18-20" in size. And run the 50w LEDs at 30w, so a led driver at 36v and 1000mA for...

    Question about metal halides

Usually metal halides are either what's called mogul or hqi based. The mogul is nearly the same as a regular light bulb (like e26 or something) except its threaded part is twice as big as a regular light bulbs'. The hqi bulb is about 4" long and shaped like a roll of quarters and has a metal...

    Lighting for 220 reef

I am about to purchase three "Chinese black boxes" for a 125g and currently have one over a 47g column tank and love it. I say three would be great over your tank. It's really the cheapest way to get sps light levels over a large tank. I'm going with the twilight group, they are a little...
