I've had anubias for many years. Now I found some that comes in cute ceramic pots. It does have something that looks like cotton where the roots would be. I've never kept it in pots before. I always let the rhysome be free.
DO I NEED TO TAKE THE ANUBIAS OUT OF THE CUTE POT? Will the...
Honestly he doesn't look sick. Sometimes they get scratched when swimming, but it's kid of hard to tell from the pic. Is he behaving differently than normal? I don't know what sex it its.
I can't see anything. What kind of growths? Also, if you've had the fish for eight years.... well everyone dies sometime. Could be heading towards the end of his life cycle and that may be normal.
Honestly Mystery Snails are weirdos. How long have you had it? Mine was soooo weird when I first got it for a few weeks, now he's normal. But I was about to lose my mind too. Just chill. I don't think you have to worry. They do stuff like that.
I've had my Finnex 24/7 light fixture for about 4 years now and I really love it. I don't do planted tanks anymore, but keep some anubius (can't kill it).
I have a strong airstone in the tank. The Finnex now has water/condensation inside it.
I posted in another section about some stink...
A few months ago my tank started smelling fishy, especially after water changes. I've had tanks for over 30 years and have never had this problem. I clean the lip of the tank regularly so it's not that.
My nitrates have been elevated, going to about 50 at times. They come down after water...
Dito Dalto. I'd recommend a glass thermometer, I used to have those "stick on the side of the tank, sticker thermometers." They suck.
I never use chemicals, only raise the heat and that's all. It's hard to watch, but be patient. I then usually leave the heat up for about a week...
This is my absolute dream fish, but that's it. It's a dream only. This guy is living the dream.
Even with this beautiful tank, these fish jump, as it is their nature to eat insects and other low flying things. I'm really not sure how he keeps this guy in the tank. Also, it seems like he...
Does anyone out there have a biotope tank? Is it specific to your region?
I'm moving to Florida in a couple years, and would LOVE to do a freshwater biotope. Just looking for some inspiration.
Great thread, thanks for sharing. Your Oscar is the star of the show, he looks like he's got personality. He's grown since you started this! Ha. Keep posting pics.
Last year I had a similar situation.
Because I'm super cautious I filled the new tank partly with new water, but also filled it with a few buckets of the old tank water instead of throwing it out. I also put my new sand in.
I ran the filter from the old tank on the new tank. I ran the...
Are you sure they are brackish? I had no idea.
Hope someone can help with the height of their jump. Anyone?
I just wanted to share one of my favorite videos. Isn't this tank the best?
I can see why you want one!:D
OH oh... just came by this thread and saw that you're not supposed to submerge bamboo. Whoops. Why not? I've had mine submerged for about 4 months. What's going to happen? Seriously, should I take it out?
