Tank looks great. I inject CO2 via a DIY setup on my 60. 2 bottle system, but if you do not have sufficient light and you add CO2 + nutrients for your plants you will have a mad algae problem. And hard water will magnify the problem. How much light are you using (WPG)?

I checked that when it first started and it is just tea colored from the peat. Just checked again and its clear. Thank you for the advice though. I wish that's all it was - easy fix. ;).

Convict make excellent feeders. I have a pair. They breed like rabbits too!! Good advice.

Most breeders like "their brood" to be as close to natural as possible. It depends what they are in it for. If you like veil tail Bettas and you are producing quality, healthy fish that will not contaminate the breeding population of Bettas then you keep breeding what you like. :)
