Thinking of doing ten gallon nano reef

Look at Marineland Eclipse 12 - about $110 on Amazon (includes basic shipping!). All you will need for basic SW is heater ($15) and small power head ($20). If budget allows get 2nd heater and PH - they make for much easier water changes. Use spare equipment in a clean bucket a day before...

Thinking of doing ten gallon nano reef

Consider a Marineland Eclipse 12 - basic fluorescent light won't be great for advanced corals, but will be OK for easier stuff. Integrated filter works great and system is really cheap right now - about $110.00 from Amazon gets it shipped to your door! Add a small heater ($15) and a small...

    Trouble with polyps

Woke up yesterday and my daisy polyps have a pile of debris on them. It looks like food/poo, but I don't over feed. There are only 2 fish in tank. (Clown and royal gamma) I used baster and "blew" most of the gunk away. Polyps did not open all the way. I did perform water change. Parameters...

    Bacterial bloom?

If you have live plants a snail might devour them. I have had a large mystery snail in my tank for 3 years - and it is fun to watch. But I have gone from live plants to plastic because of the snail. Also, you might want to wait on a snail for your tank to become more established.

Eclipse 12 too much water flow?

Thanks. Does it matter how close it is to the filter outtake?

Eclipse 12 too much water flow?

12 gallon tank has been set up since Christmas. 12 lbs live rock and stock filter. 2 fish - small clown and small royal Gama. Clump of daisy polyps look much better when I turn off the power head. I've moved the PH and the polyps several times, whenever I add more water flow they seem to...

Need some help buying a used tank

Algae will be in every tank - this should not be a reason to not buy. But to properly clean will take time and elbow grease. This needs to considered when agreeing to a price.

    New to town.

I've had great luck with Angels. Not as active as the Silver Dollars, but they look so good as they swim around tall plants! I also think a single Beta is a great fish in a community tank. Beautiful plumage as soon as you get them out of the tiny bowls most stores use.

    New to town.

Tank looks good! I had planted tank several years ago, but I added plants to an established tank. Plants would get spots at times, but all seem to grow out and thrived. Everything was going great til I added 3 Silver Dollars. Really cool fish, but they ate every plant in less than a week...

    New to SW

Have 12g Marineland Eclipse system that has been up for about 2 months. 12 lbs of LR with a small clown and small Royal Gama. Also have 2 snails and a cleaner shrimp. All seem to be doing well at this point. Water has always tested good. We added some daisy polyps to top of rocks. They...

    Evans 20 Gallon Nano Reef

Awesome tanks! What is the clown hosting in? That does not look like an anemone to me?

    Lindsey's Nemo tank

Yea - he's really awesome. But I think I like the little Royal Gama just as much. He was really shy initially. Hardly ever came out of his rock caves. You would see him in the tank, but would dart into hiding as soon as you approached the tank. Now he even stays out during water changes!

    Lindsey's Nemo tank

New to AA. I've had FW tank (29 gal) for many years & have often thought about getting started with SW. My 14 year old daughter told me she wanted a Nemo - so I finally had the excuse to get started! We got at 12 gal Marineland Eclipse - I love the look and the quiet operation! I've add a...
