    Decor for sale

You can try Craigslist.... My husband would love this stuff... but that's why I don't let him near the tank. ;) There is a BIG sunken ship kind of thing.. like 3 feet long at the fish store.. and he threatens me that he is going to buy it if I don't hurry up and get what I need and get out...

    strange crab

Oh no! That is WRONG on so many levels. I lived in Florida for a year on the beach.. and we used 'sand fleas' as bait. They were some type of isopod, I think... they were up to almost 2 inches long.. white and would scurry and burrow in the sand. I made my husband bait my hook with those...

    Leaving Fish

When I had discus.. I had to leave them for 4 days... when I got back one pair had spawned. So.. I'd definately say that a short fast isn't anything to be worried about. When in transport from the supplier to the holding facility to the LFS, I am sure they go longer than a few days between...

    Since only Fishy Folk understand....

I don't think my tank has 'glory' haha! But.. on the upside... the MIA bugger is BACK. He popped out of a rock this morning before I turned the lights on. I thought 2 days MIA was certain bad news... next time I'll give him another day. ;) So.. they aren't friends, and the one meanie chases...

    Since only Fishy Folk understand....

I gotta vent a bit... I posted about my cracked tank. That is resolved, fish back in, ect. During all of this.. my LFS kept my fish for me for about a week to make sure everything transitioned smoothly. One of my diamond gobies jumped out and died at the LFS. The owner said that one was...

    Terrace ideas???

I saw some photos of a contest that the FW tank/plants were used to create a 'landscape' of sorts. The tanks made mini creeks, fields, rolling hills... it was pretty awesome. Sorry, I don't have a link and for the life of me.. don't know what to Google to find it again.. it has been a few...

    Where in Texas are you?

I have family in Grapevine. My family is all native Texans, I was bred here, born in Germany (thank you Uncle Sam) and was raised in Cypress. I currently live in the Rice Village/Medical Center area.

Looking for a good fish store in northwest houston/cypress

Pretty late to add to this thread.. but I live in the Medical Center area, and really DON'T like Fish Gallery... I found them to be a bit trite, not helpful, and misleading, and not to mention, very expensive. I purchased 12 blue green chromis and a yellow tang... 7 of the chromis died within a...

    Ammonia and reptiles

Since turtles don't use gills to breathe.. I would think that the higher ammo levels aren't as serious to them. I WOULD use an ammo lock though, just in case. You never know how it will affect his eyes and such.

    Cracked Tank

No felt/styrofoam, but we did make sure the tank was level. We made sure the floor was level, the stand, then the tank on the stand. With the first tank, we only had the maintenance guys come in and check the floor before we got the tank.. but didn't check the tank/stand once it was put in...

New member with a desperate story (please help!)

Just a thought.. have you checked for stray voltage in the tank? I don't know how fast it would affect the new fish, or why Bill would have survived.. but who knows? <shrug>

Questions on what is really "fallow"

Fallow = prepared, but unseeded. In agricultural terms, fallow fields are fields tended to, but not planted with crops, to allow the soil to replenish nuturients. In a tank... I would think it means maintained, but no added livestock allowing the rock/sand fauna to mature on it's own.
