I'm sorry to hear about your eel :( I actually already have sand in the tank, it just happened to be a lucky coincidence. Was yours very active before he passed, or more on the shy side?

Wow, really? I'd imagine four would have one heck of a bio-load :blink: If I opted for just two striped peacock eels, would it be alright to add a school about six cories? Or should the eels be the only bottom feeders in the tank?

Hm...if I went with the dither fish option...are Harlequin Rasboras too small to live with a striped peacock eel? They seem like fun, peppy fish, but I wouldn't want to the eel to snack on them! If I added eels, how many would live comfortably in a 55g? Keep in mind, I would like to have...

Do you happen to know if there is a method to help these eels become sociable? I've often read that they're quite shy, would it help to give it the entire tank to itself for a month or so to settle in before adding other fish?

Hey there, I recently made the grevious mistake of browsing fish profiles....and I came upon the very beautiful Peacock Eel. I was hoping some of the members here might have some concise information about them (there are so many conflicting "facts" on the internet, I have no idea what's right...

Fair enough, haha. If I decide to keep both cories and kuhlis I'll be sure to closely moniter the feeding situation to ensure everybody gets their fair share. Thank you very much for your advice!

Hm...would I be able to remedy this by doing a small nocturnal feeding for the kuhlis so they'll be less inclined to pig out on the cories' food?

I've read that Dwarf Neons only get about 2 inches long, are you sure you aren't thinking of Boesemani or Turquoise Rainbowfish? (I had considered these two previously and I agree, a school of these might be a bit snug in a 55g). This is the fish I mean to add: Dwarf Neon (Praecox)...

Do you think they'll be fine sharing the bottom with the cories? I should hope that the footprint of a 55g is large enough for both, but I certainly don't want to overcrowd or stress the fish!

May I ask why? Do they tend to have an aggression issue in large numbers or is it to reduce the amount of stock in the tank or something to that effect?

Even Kuhlis? I mean, I knew they burrowed, but they're fairly small as far as loaches go...are they really a big threat to my plants? :confused:
