    me personally I dont believe in flake food (if you use it go hard) but I dont think it contains half of the nutrients of a good pelleted diet (and loses that little nutrional value much faster then pellets. I also find it can pollute your tank something fierce, and its muchy tougher to try...

    Well I dont know why but I may (or may not) be the only person to have a bad experience with ehiem...but what I know is I have a few Rena XPs and I love them to death they work like a charm! Gets my vote! :D

    At a crossroads...need some advice!

    Okay sounds good...the tank looks excellent and I am starting to get a film on the glass so it is maturing nice, I have never cycled with raw shrimp before only die off from a large source of rock. Took one shrimp out, god awful smell for being in there over night X.X...so its working.

    At my wits end...what the heck is this?

    They look like bristleworms and "hair worms". But remember dont touch bristleworms they give you the clap all over your hands :P (not really but itches and burns like a mofo!)

    long term food solution for a lion fish

    It's a lionfish...it will come around sooner or later. As far as feeding goes krill and silversides are good and so is raw seafood every once in a while (tiny bits) of squid (MAKE SURE TO CHECK FOR THE BEAK IF IT IS WHOLE SQUID), clam, mussle, shrimp, octopus.

    how many pounds of live rock?

    There are several factors which we cannot determine for you: Type of rock, density of rock, and your end stocking level. But the rough guideline as everyone else said is 1 1/2 lbs - 2 lbs per gallon.

    Hello everyone, This is my very first post here :D but let me give you the run down.... I started a 30 gallon long reef tank on may 11, I added 55 lbs of old dried live rock (made sure to clean it first) and a 1 1/2 " layer of aragonite sand. On may the 15, I added 5 lbs of quality cured live...
