Hello, just wondering why you want to change your filter at all. Your tank is small and the biowheel can handle it.

You need to cut the problem at the source. Buying some to eat the algae is a band-aid fix. My first suggestion is the lighting. Change the bulbs if their old. Second, add more water circulation. You will see more algae in dead spots. For those that want to be stubborn, the quick fix is a seahare.
