    Switching to Dirt

I'm wanting to switch up my 120g to a dirt tank but I know I'll have lots of questions along the way. Hopefully this can help someone else in the future as well. Does anyone have experience using this dirt? https://tinyurl.com/cw7uyhy9 (I used tiny URL cause the original link was massive)

    Substrate for planted tanks

I've used the Seachem Flourite substrate (black) as a bottom layer topped with regular black gravel in pretty much all of my planted tanks and never had an issue with it. I've also kept cory's in all of my tanks with zero issue. The only issues I've had with cloudy water is when I would pull...

LED for High Tech Planted Tank

Afternoon (at least here) everyone! I've done a search of the forums and came up pretty empty for what I was looking for so I'm not sure if it's come up before or not. I'm going to be moving soon and will end up setting up a new 120g or 180g planted tank. I'll be running high light...

ph Persistence with CO2 and Water Changes

I never had any issues with snails and shrimp, quite the opposite actually, when I ran my CO2 system. I always kept the PH controller in the 6.3-6.5 range. I never did water changes though, only top offs when needed so my parameter swings were always minimal.

    Plants losing leaves

Sounds like a nutrient issue. I have a chat somewhere that shows what nutrient deficiency causes what issue. I'll see if I can find it tomorrow. I've always used the dry fertilizers from GLA (Green Leaf Aquarium) with wonderful success.

LEDs for 30 inch deep freshwater tank.

I use EcoTech Radions on my planted tank. I had a set left over from breaking down a reef and they work amazingly well for plants

    High Tech Planted Questions

Replying to state that the treated water from the Kold Ster-il unit grew plants wonderfully with very little algae in my paludarium over the last year and a half. [emoji1689] I just flooded the tank again so I'll be using the treated water in the new planted tank too.

    120g Planted Possibility

I'm absolutely obligated to post pictures, now if only I had some pictures of this tank to post. :( It's not quite a reality yet, just plans unfortunately. Yes, those are marine lights technically. They are fully controllable though and I currently use them to grow all the plants in my...

    Getting back in the hobby

In my old 70 I had an angel, clown pleco, breeding pair of apistogramma cacatuoides, 8 peppered Cory, 13 black neon tetra, 13 harlequin rasboras, and a few platy. It was moderately to heavily planted and I never once had an issue with aggression from any of the stock (other than an apisto...

    High Tech Planted Questions

I know I'm reviving this thread from being long dead, but I wanted to put an update out there for anyone interested. I have been using the Kold Ster-il filter for my reef and freshwater/tree frog paludrium exclusively now for about 2 1/2 years and have had zero issues. I also use it for the...

    120g Planted Possibility

It's been quite some time since I've been on this forum so I figured it was time to come by and say hi :) I'm currently playing around with ideas and plannings of a new 120g (4'x2'x2') build and it never hurts to put all my ideas into writing to see if they all add up and make sense, possibly...

    Tanked opinion.

My wife and I went to ATM a few years ago when we were in Vegas and I asked about exactly this. The answer that Wade told us was that it was a tv show and to take everything you see with a huge grain of salt. Everything you see on the show is scripted and made for TV. They always (at least 99%...

Sky's Newest 120g Adventure (pic heavy)

Well the leopard puffer has been moved to a different smaller reef tank we have that houses just him and a clownfish. Today was the first time he was actually seen eating. In his place I picked up a Bennett's Puffer who is about 4" so he's a little better suited for the 120. He is alway out...

Sky's Newest 120g Adventure (pic heavy)

Thanks guys! He's out and about more today and doesn't seem as skittish when someone walks up to or past the tank. He didn't eat last night but I wasn't to concerned. I'm going to try some krill tonight and see if he goes for it Sent from my Galaxy S5 via the Aquarium Advice app.
