I just got this fish and was told he is a red striped SAE and he eats algae. But so far (60hr) I haven't seen him eat anything and he won't feed on my tetra flakes. Any ideas?
appreciate it if anyone can advice if the following fishes are safe for my shrimps
1) otto (im pretty sure they are from research)
2) siamese algae eaters (SAE)
3) neon tetra
4) guppy
as always, thank you to everyone in advance for their advice!

Does it make it look prettier to have some sort of background color?
I see some tanks use blue or black plastic tape at the back n seem to look good
What do u think?
I just took some projector plastic sheets from office and cut some small holes for water flow and inserted into my tank..
Low budget but gets the job done
I leave lights on for 4 hr per day with co2 running at appx 2 bubbles per sec. Water change 1/2 everyweek.
It does look like the pace of algae growth has slowed. We'll see in couple weeks whether they will disappear. .
What is best for getting rid of green algae on the sides of glasses?
I already have two saimese algae eater, 2 ottos, one pleco n couple amano shrimps.
But I still get green algaes on the glass which takes me forever to scrub off.
As summer arrives the average temperature of where I live is 30C (86F). When im home obviously I turn on the AC but when im out the temperature of the tank easily reaches 28c (83f) which is too hot for my shrimps (I have tetras n plants too).
Without leaving my AC on 24/7. What can I do to...
