Starting Nanocube for a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

I've had the tank running for over 5 months now but haven't updated this thread. Here we are.. RBTA I just added:

Tons of growth on the rocks now. There's this green plant like thing growing on both rocks and even the substrate. Very small, sways with the current, and has distinct branches. Couple of slimey substances too. I have a vibrant green slime, transluscent brown and maroon slime. Also what looks...

    Change of Plans - Adoption?

TCTFish, I would but I don't have the minimum post requirement to post in those forums. D'oh! :x I just recently renovated the tank. I removed the typical castle and ugly blue gravel and now using flourite and 5 flat stones to make a more natural aquascape. In doing so, they use all the nooks...

Starting Nanocube for a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

I'm guessing somewhere between 20-30lb of LR. I ordered some more smaller pieces to stack up on those two hulking ones though. Came home today and saw the diatoms/algae all over the place. Almost completely covered my LR and the back wall and starting to cover up the glass. How do I know if...

Well, hit a brick wall when I found that my chiller was leaking. Got back from my vacation to find that I have brown algae all over the rock and back wall. Diatoms, I presume.. should I worry about them or just let them run their course?

    New Aquarium & New Member

Uh oh. They've been in there for over a month though. One or two might've shriveled up when I added a couple tea sp. of salt.

Well, the Tin foils are getting larger. Tossed out the tacky blue/teal/white gravel and the castle and went "al natural" (or is it "au?") Picture taken with cell phone.

    Diatoms* Getting Very Irritating.

Would you mind me asking what kind of substrate you're using Marconis? I've been looking for a dark substrate that will do well with plants. Thanks!

Cool. :) With my upgraded light, is there such thing as having too much light for some corals?

Don't know what I'm going to do with the 3 compartments. Perhaps have the chiller intake on the 3rd compartment. Got any pointers?

Starting Nanocube for a pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

Got my tank yesterday. 24 gallon Nanocube w/ 150-watt HQI lamp HQI lamp/canopy: JBJ 1/20 HP chiller: Fiji liverock: Live sand: Started setting things up today. Can anyone recommend a good pump for the chiller? I picked up some $30 pump at the LFS, but it barely trickled water...

    Change of Plans - Adoption?

So I got suckered into purchasing two Tin Foil barbs little over a month ago for my 10 gallon. They haven't grown much over 1.5" yet, but browsing other LFS's, I can confirm that the advertised 6" adult size that Petsmart had on the display is a complete lie. I initially had plans to get a...

The fun begins tomorrow. I'm on vacation all next week too, perfect timing! :) A coworker of mine owns the "tropicalfishoutlet.com" and is hooking me up with his supplier for discount prices. He can get me the 24gal nanocube, the 150 watt Viper lamp, a chiller (guessing 1/6 HP), live rock...

nano tanks... more trouble than they are worth?

Patience is definitely something fish keeps will need! Man, this isn't a hobby you can literally jump right into. Happy to say my overstocked tank has completed its cycle with the help of Bio Spira. 9 fish, all under 1.5" long so far, so they'll be able to live like this long enough for me to...

    My Current Tank Conditions

    Yep, just a couple days after using Bio Spira, looks like my cycle is complete. From the day I got my API test kit (or at least started recording results): 7/17 NH3 = 0.5 NO2 = 0.25 NO3 = 5.0 7/19 NH3 = 0.5 NO2 = 0.5 NO3 = 5.0 50% PWC NH3 = Did not test NO2 = .025 7/21 NH3 = 0.5 NO2 = 0.5...
