    Mandarinfish and Lionfish

A lion can eat 1/2 it's body size, since this lion is still small but will grow much faster than your mandarin, it is a matter of time. If your lion is fed properly it should reach 8-10 inches in the first year and will reach around 15 inches in 18 months...... After the first year than you...

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

It depends what species of lion, they can eat 1/2 their body size, so keep this in mind when placing your lion with a coral beauty. Kaye

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

Thank You Fluff, I do like my lions...... TIA, some times you can not avoid live foods, if you need to feed live try ghost shrimp but feed the shrimp something nutritional first (gut load), you can feed them pellets, flake or cyclopezee. Did you pick up a feeder stick? Place the frozen...

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

Another problem is many puffers get large and the smaller puffers are known for nipping.....LOL Kaye

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

It is possible but risky, Puffers are known for picking at lions and can pick them to death, in turn a lion can sting a puffer and kill it. I keep both species in my 300g but I keep a close eye on the mix, the same applies to trigger and lion mix. Kaye

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

A lion can swallow 1/2 it's body size, so even if it can not eat the Shrimp/goby & clown right now, it will grow fast enough to eventually eat them, These fish will be at risk if added with a lion. Kaye

    Adding Loinfish to my tank?

Since there is a size difference in these two lions, what size tank do you have? How is your Filtration? A Volitan grows very fast and reaches 12-15 inches in the first 18 months. Antennata Lions reach 7-9 inches and are slower growers. Either way they are very messy fish and your tank needs...

    Lionfish in a 20 gallon

Not long...... Volitans grow very fast, a 2 inch juvenile will grow 8-10 inches in the first year and should reach around 15 inches by the time they are 18 months. A young Volitan will not survive if you feed it feed sparingly & the waste this fish will produce your 20g will not be able to...

FOWLR Upgrade - What To Add?

Not so strange, I had to get rid of a unicorn tang because it bullied my lions, my tank is a 300g and that was not enough space for that tang....lol Your lion will grow faster than the clowns and than they may become a snack. A young lion can be fed small chunks daily but as an adult it should...

I have to agree it is risky ....... Kaye

    Whats wrong with this theory??

If this is a FOWLR tank, I would also leave the fish in, leave the lights out during the day and just turn them on at night for a few hours. Even after the algae is gone you can run your lighting schedule this way in a FO tank to help control some of that algae. My 300 FOWLR tank is 4 - 11 in...

and you wonder why people some people overstock

Wow, I looked up triggers and they say Titan Triggerfish 20g, Sargassum 40g yet they say 150g for the crosshatch trigger........ go figure Kaye

    Fuzzy Dwarf Lions

Lions are not messy eaters, they swallow whole chunks of food from a feeder stick. But they do produce quite a bit of waste........ Kaye
