The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an interest in aquariums or fish keeping!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Basically you will need to give each male a shell with about 6 inces of area around it. They usually are pretty peaceful, but they will protect their area. I would say 3 pairs would be great. This would allow each some territory. You may want to consider adding a second 'shelf' to the tank...
If you are going to buy T5 lights try to get them with individual reflectors. This increases the intensity (par) quite a bit. Check out the Tek5 lights from reefgeek.com. Those would definitely allow you to keep anything.
Yeah, it would be one or the other. I feel their looks are one of the reasons I decided to get into saltwater in the first place. While having a reef is nice, the fish are always the ones that steal the show. At least in my opinion. Thanks for all the advice, it is much appreciated
From my reading I've heard of more bad experiences with Angels in a tank with clams and LPS. Has anyone else had problems with these fish...I could always keep it a FOWLR if the odds are against me.
I'm actually a little more worried about the Clowns bullying than the Damsel. They run the tank and send the Damsel running for cover (If he does become a problem, he can live in the fuge). I have a refugium so plenty of pods for the mandarin (I still plan to wait a bit on this).
As for the...
I have just finished the cycle on my 55 gallon. I have about 50# live rock and 4 inch SB. I currently have 2 Ocellaris (paired) and a four stripe damsel.
I would like to add a Kole Tang, Flame Angel or Coral Beauty, and a manderin. Would this combination cause any trouble? Would I be able...
It's hard to give a definite answer on this. If they are about to spawn changing their tank may in fact interrupt this process (more than likely)
The Pleco on the other hand may be helping the situation. If the Oscars focus there aggression on the it, then less aggression toward each other...
There are not any anenomes I would consider reef safe. All will sting neighboring corals when/if they decide to go for a walk. All anenomes like light, but the bubble tip seems to be one of the less light demanding species out there, and they also seem to be able to handle less than pristine...
They will develop. I've had mine going for about 7 months now (20 long). I get more enjoyment out of that than I do my 55.
Great idea to add a nano forum. Hope it sticks around for a while.
I've heard of it, but I've never really tried it. Just vary the diet, and stay away from feeder fish as they cause more harm than good. Try a quality pellet food like Hikari, then supplement with garden worms and possibly crickets (if you don't mind bringing them into your house). I belive...
