I switched over to the Walstad method, still in the process of picking out new plants but I know I want a patch of dwarf hairgrass. I need to upgrade my lights too, they seem to be a bit on the weak side. =/ I think my cat wants to have a snack. lol

I just switched over to soil and gravel last night. I found pockets of dead smelly grey sand at the bottom. I had stirred it a few times over the past month but it still happened. I'm guessing if you don't put too much sand it will be ok.

Are you sure the barrels were fresh and never used to store any whiskey? Maybe there's residual stuff in there generating co2. Even if it holds water I would line that with the rubber sealant they use for plywood tanks.

I found some rocks along the river earlier today for my new aquarium. They're pretty heavy and I'm trying to find out how much a glass aquarium can hold. It's a 29g on a regular stand, so there's no support along the bottom.

I was at Petco looking at the Bristlenose when the one in the corner moved. They had them labeled as regular Bristlenose, but it was a long fin. So I grabbed it! lol I got a Golden Gourami too.
