Yes you are correct they went from their old nitrate infested and phosphates infested water too basically a new setup again. I was instructed to do this by the aquarium store I go to (a marine biologist who I've gone to for years who's never steered me wrong) who said years of high nitrates and...
Hello everyone!
I know it's been quite a while since I've posted but I'm back! Hope everything is going well with everybody. i've had some major changes in the last few years which unfortunately effected my tank :(. However just today I completely tore down the tank, cleaned, new sand added...
Like I said I just more or less wanted to get something in the aquarium just to make sure the tank is cycled. I have a feeling that it is as it has been setup for a week now with plenty of LR and I'm not getting any readings on ammonia or nitrites (I guess maybe I should test the trates and see...
As soon as I see ammonia or nitrite spike the damsels will come out and go over to my 180 FOWLR (in the refugium, at least until I can get them back to my LFS) my guess is I won't even see any spike and that the tank is set to go. I just highly doubt it cycled that quick. We'll see, don't worry...
Well here it is finally, I have my nano seahorse tank all setup! (of course there are no seahorses in the tank yet as it needs to cycle) tell me though, I have about 45 pounds of LR in the aquarium (between the sump in back and the tank total) I was told you can actually cycle an aquarium with...
Ray is doing much better guys! He's much happier now. I've got the ammonia at 0 again, nitrites at 0 and the nitrate down a considerable amount. my phosphates were skyhigh and now I am working on those and those are even going down now. Water is back into tip top shape! I am going to do more...
The nano tank, stand and things came today. I'm so excited! I'm getting the stand setup right now and put together. Gotta unbox the tank. Will be sure to take plenty of pics along the way! I'm probably going to be up until like 6am in the morning setting this thing up haha.
I just wish my...
Guys my Emp is still not looking good. I decided to get him out of that QT because I just cannot keep the ammonia and nitrites down no matter how many water changes I do. He's back in the DT and he's alart, swimming and even eating (though not his usual appetite) I am just concerned because I...
I went ahead and made the order guys! I bought the Nano system and got the stand free! I also bought the specific nano skimmer for the system as well. It's going to be here tomorrow, I'm so excited. I'm gonna be moving about 40 pounds or so of live rock from my 180 gallon FOWLR as I actually...
You bet I will! It won't be for some time, I just mainly ordered the tank because it seemed like such a good deal. I have many problems going on right now with my 180 gallon FOWLR tank I want to get straightened out first before I venture on another tank.
Thanks,
Steve
Thanks for all the help guys. I did basically a 100% water change and started over with some of my main tank water. I have the emperor in there now (which by the way his name is Bandit) in the QT and am dosing the erythromycin.
What doesn't make any sense to me is I was using erythromycin...
Thanks for the tips guys! I could probably just do an anemone in my 180 gallon FOWLR? I'll have to think about this though that if I go with seahorses, I'm limited on what I can have. The tank won't be setup for at least another few weeks and then of course I have to cycle it first. I have...
Thanks man, I appreciate that. So it sounds like if I do seahorses I'm limited on other things? I wanted to do maybe a derasa clam, an anemone maybe a few pieces of coral and some live rock, maybe a clown fish. Can I do any of this with the horses?
Thanks,
Steve
Eh yeah I hear ya some what. I don't know what it is about the Nano systems though. When I see one setup there's something about them. They just look so cool and all fancy. I had to have one, what can I say? Lol.
He's been in there two weeks already and everything was great, then I got lazy unfortunately and didn't the change the water for 2-3 days and man did the ammonia sky ROCKET. He seems like he is doing much better since I moved him out of the QT and into my main tank. The ick seems all gone, too...
