I would try to use r/o if at all posible, get it from a fish store, buy a unit online or where I live there are 3 companys that sell units culligan, planet earth and the filter guys all sell much cheaper then the units with the fish pictures on them and they will replace filters test your water...

I am pretty sure it as a koran angel, they get alot bigger then the size of that tank will allow, perhaps it is killing things off to make room for itself. The markings on the fish tell me that it is a baby now.

I no longer have lions, but I trained mine to eat frozen foods using a long piece of rigid air line tubing with the thawed food on the end. The fish cant see the tubing and you get to play puppet master(also works on eels).

I agree with brad totaly worth the money. you have been on here for over 5 years so I don't think you'll be getting out anytime soon, this will save lots of trips,time and money in the long run and no hefting water around.

I also started out with tap water and bad algae followed in the first month if I remember right, it was a battle that cost me alot in chemicals, filter media, time and stress. If I could go back in time I would go r/o fo sho.
