Hi everyone,
I've had a small 12gallon tank set up for 5 ish years with plants and fish/shrimp and yesterday I brought home my new 32gallon! I added dirty sponges, some bio beads + I got bio beads from a friend from her tank.
I will start testing the water today but wondered what to expect in...
Hi,
I have white spot tetras, pygmy corys and a betta.
I have a friend who swears in giving her fish veggies and I tried to read online but get mixed info.
I know mine adored the cooked and peeled pea I smushed up for them, is this something I should give once a week to all of them? is 1 pea...
Hi,
I did the fishless cycle with pure ammonia and finished and stocked my tank over 2 days.
15 gallon, 1 betta, 4 pgymy corys, 6 white spot tetras, 5 king blue tetras
How often do you recommend testing all parameters? my last test was 24hrs ago, and today's gave me this: ammonia seems to be...
Hi,
We got 6 pygmy salt and pepper corys, 1 betta, 6 white spot tetras and 5 king blue tetras!
Now how often should I check my water for everything?
I just tested and my ammonia seems to be between 0 and .25, nitrite at 0 and nitrate at 10. Does this seem so far so good?
thanks :) I'll do another one tomorrow early morning.. Nervous too much WC and I'll screw up my cycle :S
We're going to stock with 2 cory's and 5-6 tetras to start (probably black skirt)
Suggestions welcome! :)
I have a 15g, finished my cycle, did the final conversion test and then did a pretty big water change, approx 75%, because of all my plants etc it was hard to remove more. So I added new water (with prime) tested nitrate, was still too high (40ppm) so I removed more water, added more water with...
I brought water to my friends house and we tested all parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate) and indeed the nitrate was over 80 on her test kit, mine was showing between 0 and 5. The other parameters all matched so I will be going to buy a new nitrate test.
Thanks for all your advice!
Sorry, 1st test showed 30ppm, 2nd test showed around 10 and the 3rd stayed at 0...thats when I knew I either did something wrong or test is just no good...
I usually shake each test bottle a bit (even for ammonia etc) so I'm pretty sure I did today as it's out of habit now, so I'm really not sure why it would do that :( I'll test it again tonight making sure to shake bottle1, invert tube several times, shake bottle2 30 seconds and the whole tube 1...
yeah that's we do, I called my aquarium store and the manager said it could be pure ammonia that I added prior, but also could be a bad test bottle.. we'll see tonight, I'm going to borrow my friends :)
Don't worry, no offense taken... lol I was SURE it was me doing something wrong, I did the test 3 times and kept reading the instructions, I even had my boyfriend to the test in case it was me... but still nothing consistent :( I'll probably ask to borrow my friends test kit (she has a diff...
I'm cycling my tank (fishless) and at the point where I am testing nitrates, and I am getting varied results even a few minutes apart. For example, today I tested it at it looked like it was at 30, meanwhile my ammonia had dropped to .5 overnight so I added more ammonia, and then tested nitrate...
I guess you could say I'm 1/2 way through my fishless cycle, but I'm starting to get discouraged, lol
I test my water early morning and in the evening, nitrites have been through the roof for 4 days, ammonia keeps dropping every time I test it (so I redose it) and nitrate was slowly rising. I...
