Can you even overdose on this? I mean withen reason, obviously if you dumped the whole bottle in that probably wouldn't be good. But if you dose for 20g when you change out 5 g that would be okay wouldn't it? I thought when doing water changes you dose for the total amount of the tank anyway...
Wow! Youve inspired me! Could you give me a list of equipment you used for this (as well as cheaper stuff now that you have built one)? Money is kind of tight but I really want a 3D rock background.
I've been wondering about this too as I also have 0 ammonia and nitrites but showing a 20-40 nitrates. Guess I wont worry about it unless it turns red. Fish all seem to be doing well.
I always wonder how my pleco gets enough to eat too. I have driftwood in there (do they eat this or just use it to chew on or what?). He never comes out to eat and when I drop my shrimp pellets and algae discs the other fish usually eat it before he even comes out.

Actually here is a thread I started that has a pic of my tank. I have blue sand on the left side and blue/white fine gravel on the rest of the tank. I think it works well...
From all my research and advice from more of the seasoned aquarists on here. NitrAtes are a good sign of beneficial bacteria as this is the waste product from them. If you are showing 0 NitrAtes then I would think your beneficial bacteria has all been killed off and your water is "too" clean...
