Wouldn't recommend high protein anything for mbuna. Spirulina flakes or NLS pellets will do the trick. The flakes might be nice because you can crush them up easily to feed to the fry.

I'm thinking of doing a 90-110 gallon tank with about 15 Tropheus (moliro, chilanga? Undecided as of yet) with possibly 10 yellow top afras and some yellow labs. I've never dealt with afras but have heard they're not very aggressive. Am I looking at a lot of comparability issues here?

How do I tell the difference between Synodontis petricola and Synodontis lucipinnis? I purchased 2 small specimens at $28 each. They were labeled as petricola but after some research I have my doubts.

I have three other OB zebras. This one doesn't have the same mouth. The other OB zebras mouth extend a little just like my M. esthereas. This guy doesn't have the pronounced over-lapping top lip like a fuelleborni. Mean SOB nonetheless

What is this? It was sold as an OB zebra but the head doesn't look right. It doesn't look like an L. fuelleborni either. Any guesses?

Tropheus do best in groups of ten or more. I don't think that size tank already heavily stocked would be able to house them.

I believe the mother still has a few in her mouth but I'll let her spit those in the main tank. Here's another shot of the babies

This is the fry tank

Have a yellow lab who's been holding since Feb 25. Just removed her and put her in a half gallon fry tank while I clean the main tank. Should I coax her into spitting her fry in there (if so how)?

Monday noticed a yellow lab holding. :-D how long will she hold for? At what point do the eggs become fry etc?

Anubia, java fern, and my personal favorite lacy java fern all do well as far as not getting eaten. Cichlids will still dig them up however.
