Hi,
i awoke this morning to find my three tangs (sailfin, goldrim and regal) all have white spot. i am aware that these fish are all suseptible to white spot but i just don't know what triggered it.
at the moment i am feeding about half a cube of frozen food (mysis, brine and mix) every day...
i have painted the back of my tank 'black'. it looks great, i think it is down to personal preference really. either way you won't be able to see much of it in six months because of the coraline algae!!
any recomendations on which order i should introduce the fish? will there be any problems with aggression?
does the yellow tang need a mature tank?
are any of these fish suseptable to ick?
cheers

my 150 gal reef tank is now fully up and running (week 4), i have added my first two fish (tank bred percula clowns) and a small clean up crew.
having spent time in the lfs and carrying out my research i have come up with the following fish wish list:
moorish idol
mandarin
goby (sand sifter)...
cheers for the help everyone.
well i took my another set of readings today (day 8)
nitrite - 0.1
amonia - 0.1
ph - 8.3
phosphates - 0 - 0.1
nitrate - less than 5
i'm not sure whats going on, the shrimp is decomposing well. i must have got the ph reading wrong before.
i think i'll...
i'm in a similar situation.
added 130 gallon tank.
added shrimp (decomposing well) and 40kg of live rock 8 days ago, the cycle still hasn't started yet.
nitrite - 0.1
amonia - 0.1
nitrate - 0.1
phosphates 0 - 0.1
ph - 8.3
not sure whats happening, i'm going to leave it for a couple...
i've just brought a 130 gallon tank second hand.
imo i would recommend that you sell the live stock (or get someone to hold them for you) and take your time setting it up how you want it, this way there is no rushh and you'll be able to get it right first time.

i do not have the sump or the tank covered.
i use kent marine salt.
so, i don't need to add these mineral additives to my tank right now? i'm fed up with being told a load of old cobblers by shops.
so i shouldn't worry about my PH right now then.
cheers
