Can I get a hell yeahhh !!! What was the overall fix for you? I'm dealing with my own nitrite spike & low ammonia & nitrate levels so I feel your frustration
Well this morning I tested again here are the results. The ph is a solid 8.0 which is great it has not gone up or down barely at all. Ammonia levels are at a zero with the nitrite spike nitrates are between 0 & 5 ppm. So I started with a dose of about 140 drops of ammonia to get the spike of NH3...
Just a bit more info...my tank is a 55 gallon long. With pool filter sand and 120lbs of Texas holey rock limestone. Which might I add has kept my ph at a solid 8.0 through the entire cycle. The water has a slight green tint to it but I'm finding dosing with ammonia isn't increasing ammonia...
Well I'm going into my 2nd week of fishless cycle. Started with dosing clear ammonia to 4 ppm. Nitrites spiked pretty quick with about 10-20 ppm nitrates in the first week. Currently my ammonia level is near 0 with a nitrite spike and nitrates have lowered to lowest I've seen since the cycle...
My ammonia level is near 0 ppm and my nitrites are spiked with close to zero nitrates. Did a 50 % water change today still nitrite spike this cycling is frustrating
I'm in the same boat I'm on my 12th day of fishless cycle. I started with dosing ammonia to 4 ppm until nitrite spike then dosed half the ammonia dose until I saw nitrates. Nitrates never got last 20 ppm. Today I did a 50 % water change as my ammonia levels were near zero with a complete nitrite...
Here's my new pride and joy...currently cycling this new cichlid tank. Still getting a stocking list. It's a 55g with two aqueon 75 hob's...maxi jet 1200 circulation pump... 120 lbs of Texas holey rock. Pool filter sand couple fake plants for color. Still thinking about getting more plants and...
Setup my tank last night couldn't be happier. Ph is at 8.0 any and all advice or input is greatly appreciated. I'm thinking of stocking it with Mbunas or shell dwellers. What ya think?
It's a freshwater cichlid tank. Rather then multiple pumps bulking up in a 55g. I want to get the jet system in place with correct pressure flowing so an and all debris on every square inch of the substrate is thrust up into 1 of 3 filters rather than having to worry about removing all my rock...
Ya under gravel filters are garbage & from the 90's but I'm near certain there isn't any other way to keep debris from settling on the sand other than a under substrate jet system...unless they invented another DIY way to do the same thing please attach a link so I can check it out
