    Powder Blue Tang Sick?

Yeah I'm going to wait quite a while before I attempt one of these fishes again but it was beautiful! Yeah I went from a 55 gal to 210 so it was a big jump! Favorite thing in my tank is my anemones and clownfish. Love watching them dive into my ritteri, sebae or bubble tips!

    Powder Blue Tang Sick?

No he was not quarantined. He was acclimated for 3 hours. He looked much better when I bought him. He lost weight but was eating algae off the rock all the time. I'm really worried something else might happen.

    Powder Blue Tang Sick?

It is dead now. But my parameters are: Ammonia:0 Phosphate:0 Nitrite:0 Nitrate:0 PH:8.2 Salinity: 1.024 I added four fish, powder blue, small blue tang, goldrim tang and a copper band butterfly. What remains is doing great but I do question what happened. I did not get a great look at the...

    Powder Blue Tang Sick?

I just added some tangs last week into my tank. They were all doing great. They were all eating and their colors were great! However, two of the three of them had ich which was no longer present on them after 48 hours which was a blessing! Their health skyrocketed and was impressed. When I...

    Has anyone tried this before?

My clowns favorite anemone is my ritteri. I love that anemone and they won't leave it hardly. They do go to my sebae and bubble tips every now and then though.

    My Clownfish are fighting!!!??

I had the same issue with my mated pair of black percula clowns. My female did the same thing and the male did the same thing. My male ended up dieing. I was devastated. Some clowns will be territorial for no apparent reason. Is she defending anything? My clowns now defend their anemone with...

    Has anyone tried this before?

Let them out of the strainer. Put the anemone on a rock somewhere so it gets the lighting it needs to survive. The clownfish will stay around the anemone if they are interested in it. Just let nature do its magic. It takes the clownfish a little while to develop the mucus over its body that will...

    Help i have ick !!!

Putting garlic directly into the tank did spur feeding but it also creates such a string immune system in the fish. Since I introduced so much garlic into the tank it circulated through the tank for hours instead of only circulating during feeding. Thus the fish are constantly digesting the...

    Help i have ick !!!

My 210 gallon reef tank was infested with ick less than a week ago. I put in some new fish and my gold rim tang, powder blue tang, my blue tang and my copper band butterfly. I raised my tank temperature to 86 degrees. (ick cannot reproduce at 86 and it begins to die at 86) I also use a diatom...

    Converting FOWLR to Reef Tank

Look at Aquatraders.com they have great lighting systems! They have mh t5 combo lights that you could get and then not have to upgrade in the future. As for the sump, I would keep the bio balls. My sump is loaded with them and live rock and algae. And also I use two large canister filters and a...

First SW Tank for the summer!

The my and LEDs are both very high priced lights but if you want more bang for your buck go for the mh. However, you will have to pay more on your electric bill with mhs and they are hotter. But they are a bit cheaper than LEDs and will work bet for anemones. I would look at ThatPetPlace.com or...

Powder Brown + Blue Hippo Together?

I have a 210 gallon reef and I keep a yellow tang, tomini tang, hippo tang, powder blue tang and a gold-rim tang together. I have no problems at all with them. They don't really pay attention to each other at all. My yellow and tomini tang have been in the tank for a while and the other three...

    Converting FOWLR to Reef Tank

You have a great setup already! But yes, you do need to look at adding things. As for substrate, it can be sand or gravel it doesn't really matter. Do however make sure that it is "live" substrate. If I were you, I would look at adding more rock. You should have 1.5-2 lbs per gallon. When it...

First SW Tank for the summer!

The oceanic 29g biocube is equipped with a 150 watt hqi (metal halide). This would be about 5.2 watts per gallon. This would be efficient however, my tank has about 7.2 watts per gallon. This is a significant difference and my anemones are all located at halfway up in the tank or higher...

First SW Tank for the summer!

If you are looking at a more common anemone such as the bubble tip, I would suggest t5 ho lighting. I am not sure of thy lighting bio cubes have but t5 ho is great for bubble tips. If you are looking for something a bit more majestic such as a sebae anemone or the ritteri anemone, I suggest very...
