    Breeding Cory's

Once I get a second tank going, breeding them will be a goal of mine as well. How easy is it to sex the cories? Maybe you have a sausage fest going on in there?

    tahitian moon sand

When I get next year's tax return I will be in the same situation, setting up my 37g planted, cories, therefore I wanted to use sand. I think I will end up using the black flourite sand for it so I can hopefully avoid having to use ferts, or keep it to a minimum, but still have sand for the cories.

    Help...Nitrate levels off the scale.

How do you wash the filter, in your old water, treated water, or tap? It is best to rinse it old tank water. You may want to research the nitrogen cycle more, use the links mfd's profile. Nitrates are basically the end of the line of the cycle, they have to be removed by pwc's or a...

Please help black spots on my sunfish!

We catch fish out of the lakes in WI and MN all the time with black spots on them. Usually Rock Bass have 'em worse than sunfish or Perch, but we still eat them. As far as I know, they are harmless.

    Ich attack. Treatment Q's

Do you run the QT at 86F for the new fish at 2 wks as prevenative, or the same temp as your main, counting on the two week time to show symptoms?

    Level Aquarium Help Needed

If you need some leverage against your wife on those shims, you can offer (not off her) to drill out the tile on the high side so the legs sit in and off set the uneven floor...I'm sure she will like that less.

    Ich attack. Treatment Q's

Thanks for the advice. Now I have the extra tank for that purpose with out buying extra equipment. I will have to keep that as a quarantine tank for future fish, but treat the whole tank with temp only. I would hate to stress the fish (and myself) trying to net three yo-yo's. Edit: I'm...

    Ich attack. Treatment Q's

Hi all. Looks like one of my new fish brought in some ich with it. Now one or two of my yo-yo loaches clearly have it. The one or two are flashing frequently and I can see the spots on the body. No other fish appear to be infected yet. The flashing I noticed the night before last, so this...

Help seting up a hatching tank...

One of my GBR pair have layed eggs, (this just three days after buying them), but quickley the eggs were eaten. When I'm ready and they spawn again, I would like to remove the eggs and try to do a parentless hatch. I need some help figuring out the best setup. I will probably go buy a 10g...

    DIY Stand Building Help

I don't have any links for you, sorry. But I did build by own 75g stand. I accomplished it in two days, but I have some wood work experience and had my father-in-law's help and his table saw. The cost ended up being over $160 in all materials. I used a 2"x4" frame and oak paneling with trim...

    Power outage

I'm suprised no one has said, if your lights are off because you don't have 'em on a battery or gen. Don't forget to turn your CO2 off. I would also think running an air pump and stone and keeping the lid closed would keep your temps up longer than pouring water or running a fan on the tank if...

    Upgrading tanks, increasing stock

I'm looking at LFS in the twin cities and close to me, it seems hard to find female BNs. Anyone have a good suggestion to get a female or two, BN plecos? The local shop in the cities here has serveral temminckiis about 2"-2.5" long, none with bristles yet. But I don't want to end up with...

    cheap co2 set up

I'll be following the answers on this thread as well, once my 75g is setup, CO2 will be the next step, but it won't be until next tax return that pressurized would be an option.

    Upgrading tanks, increasing stock

Nothing wrong with a little fresh meal, eh? lol, I don't mean to be cruel, but the food chain is a proven system. If I add a couple more small YoYo's, I'm wondering if there is a chance the large angel might bother/eat the small YoYo's before they are big enough. I will have plenty of hiding...
