    German Blue Ram Discussion

NICE Zagz, great looking pics. The interest in this thread amazes me, but I think it definitely gets off-track (present company included). Spawns and fry are great, but what we are trying to get to the bottom of is why Rams die!!!! After participation in this thread for, i dunno, 6 months+...

Do you mean the cylinder/regulator? I'll play it safe and assume so:

    German Blue Ram Discussion

Man, it stinks to read the difficulties people have. But I believe that is the goal of this thread: to debunk the "mystery" of why rams die so seemingly randomly and without cause! I personally suspect my three are less than healthy, they seem really jittery and dart around really fast when I...

Well my luck is not as good as I would hope. They are eating the eggs again, to my dismay. Hopefully next time the removal of most tankmates will help.

    Very weird light problem

Did you leave the light on all night? Is it on a timer?

    Lighting suggestions for 29 gal

the actinic DOES bring out fish colors. I had 2x55watts over my 29gallon, one actinic and one 6700K. the fish looked awesome, but there was not that strong sense of green. If you wanna see the differnence, check out the photos on the right side of this page, you will be able to tell which...

More Water Volume = More Fish?

two pairs of dwarf cichlids in the 55 gallon would be okay, regardless of sump. Sump will just give you better biological filtration. You would just need to make sure there are two distinct territories on each end of the tank, allowing them space if they breed. Sounds like a cool setup...

    20g planted! (update pics)

Quick photo tips: -make sure the camera is still, setting it on something usually helps (your shots arne't blurry though) -take pictures at night with no other lights on -often helps to reduce the exposure if you can I like the tank, and I second your thoughts on a black background. Nothing...

    German Blue Ram Discussion

JC, duly noted and edited :) A second round of eggs has found it's way onto my driftwood. I only regret that they spawned before I had a chance to remove their tankbuddies. I guess we'll see how this batch does, and consider removing others next time if need-be! I'll keep ya posted...

Heh congrats, Maxwell. That billy is *beep*! That's a lot of eggs man, did they eat the first batch? I'm pretty sure my female is getting ready again, as the "ovipositer" (sp?) is protruding again. I'm actually planning on getting rid of the black neons, rasboras, guppies, and the lonely...

    German Blue Ram Discussion

Skyrmir, congrats on the eggs, and I'm not suprised that the mating pair may have stressed the extra female too much. I know my odd-man-out barely survived the spawn! I have a question regarding the adjustment of ph/kh/gh using peat and/or driftwood. I understand that rams enjoy a pH closer...

    Can you help me Aquascape?

I'm definitely no expert, but .. . . how about something like this, with the new plant being dwarf saggitaria or echinodorus tellenus. This just looks a little less symmetrical which is often more pleasing to the eye . . .

Can anyone help with another plant ID

Of course, if you plant it the old leaves will die off and the submersed form will begin to grow. So don't get scared if it starts to look unhealthy!
