- I'm returning to the hobby after some years away. Started in the 70s. Have just set up a 9 gallon Eheim office freshwater tank, using Floralite and an undergravel cable heater. Stock tank filter unit and LED light (1200 lumens @6,000 Kelvin). The substrate and heater combo are new to me. Heavily planted and stocked compared to past tanks; rams, curviceps, pygmy rasboras and dwarf cories. Using olive nerites for algae control; have just added dwarf blackberry and red cherry shrimp. With tank running two months, all inhabitants quite happy, and std chem good, but working on algae control. Experimenting with CO2 supplement (liquid) and filtration timing soon.
