    Julidochromis and P. demasoni?

Hello, So a friend of mine (aka my LFS) has some julidochromis and demasoni in the same tank all of them are juvenile. I've been reading a little about this combination, but some articles mention that they should not be mixed while others say that julidochromis do well with other fish. Now my...

You can always use aqadvisor.com. There you can answer a couple of questions about your set up and it will give you a general idea of your stocking level, filtration capacity , and other information such as compatibility of species you want to keep, m:f ratio, water parameters, etc.

    200litre Malawi

Question, is that tank drilled? every time I look at one tank from the UK or canada with a fluval filter, the inlet seems to come from the bottom of the tank.

    200litre Malawi

Hello Emmamc91, The tank looks pretty cool, but I would definitely keep an eye on the GBR and the P. demasoni. Demasoni can be very aggressive and in my experience GBRs are very delicate and not as aggressive. @Freakgecko91 I don't see any fish that looks like convicts in those pictures

How can i make my own black water?

I Haven't used "JBL peat pellets" but they should work, (I have used the ones from fluval and regular peat moss from home depot) and If you are going to boil the water I don't think that you need to add any stress coat, besides you are not going to boil several gallons of water, are you? . What...

redoing my 55 gal. suggestions, help, comments??!?!

IME most plants and africans don't mix if you have anything in the substrate they will uproot it. As I said before cichlids love to dig. The only plants that I would add to cichlid tank are anubias and/or ferns, but if you have vegetarian cichlids (most mbunas) they will also devour some of...

What do you guys think of 3D tank backgrounds?

your inlet is behind the wall but your spray bar or outlet needs to have an opening otherwise you will have no circulation at all. I can't post a picture right now since the background is installed in my brother's tank, but I'll try too post one sometime this week, or just google it there are...

What do you guys think of 3D tank backgrounds?

you glue it to the sides of the tank of that way you can use all the space that is left behind to hide the heater, filter, CO2 diffuser and anything else you have; it does reduce circulation but if you install it properly it can be minimized.

I would also rehome the pleco if it is a common one and if you really like plecos just get a bristlenose or bushy nose pleco they are smaller. I thought that striped peacock eels get 18" + don't they? Angelfish are also cichlids, so you have to decide if you want africans or south americans...

    The Jello Method co2

That's how bacteria are grow in labs, we use gelatin like material (agarose) with the nutrients needed and let the bacteria divide. so that should also work, I have a couple of questions though. will the gelatin melt at room temperature, and if so what's the purpose of allowing it to solidify to...
