    C02 system How to start????

I gave a small presentation on CO2 basics to our local Club over the weekend. Here is the handout I put together for it. http://www.wgwguild.com/images/misc/Basics_of_pressurized_CO2.pdf

    Plant id help needed.

It is a splash zone plant that grows on the edges of rivers and streams. It likes to be wet but not submerged. It will grow some under water as it burns its energy reserves in a desperate attempt to hit the surface.

    How to plant HC

Break it into pieces with 2-3 plantlets (leaf nodes) per piece. Then plant these with tweezers. Bury one of the plantlets as an anchor, and leave the other sticking out a little. Plant them 3/4" to 2" apart (depending on how much you have and the size of the area to be covered). It may help to...

    grrr...spider plant?

Probably not a spider plant either. The plant that looks like a spider plant, but is sold for aquariums is a marginal/bog plant. I likes to be in 1/2" to 1" max of water, with the leaves sticking out in the air. They work good at the edge of a pond, or in a frog habitat (paludarium). In a...

    Floating plants?

Other good choices are Ludwigia sedoides (mosaic plant), Limnobium laevigatum (Frogbit), and Salvinia auriculata (a type of floating fern, and a personal fav). Also, many stemmed plants do great floating (mostly ones with thin stems). There are a variety of carnivorous plants in the...

    lotus flower

Here is a Nymphaea micrantha blooming in my tank. It is one of the smaller lotus lillies and it still tried to take over a quarter of my 72 gallon tank. If the goal is just have flowers, there are lots of plants that will produce flowers if allowed to hit the surface. Phylanthus fluitans...

    Going planted...

The nova extreme 30" and the 24" use the same bulbs. I was using the 24" on my 60p (16 gallon). Is seemed like a decent light. Although, it was not enough light for that set up (CO2, Aquasoil etc). So I replaced it with a 2x 65w Satellite fixture (also Current USA). The nova extreme was moved...

A few pics of my 72

Thank you all for the kind words. ;-) The tank has been set up for a couple years, so some of the plants like the Anubias have been growing that long. The current layout has been growing out since August. The Blue tetras are one of my favorites too. I have seen them in other tanks and they...
