    Found a sand critter!?!?!?

I doubt he'd do any harm other than maybe parasites or disease. QT him first maybe? Although I have no idea what signs you'd look for lol

    Found a sand critter!?!?!?

I find those all the time, but I don't know their official name. I used to catch like 25 and put them in a bucket with sand and water. When you dump it it's insane to see them all burrow in like 2 second falt.

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Decided to suck it up and clean the rest of the old aquarium equipment. I cleaned the tank about a week ago and leak checked it. I got the filter together, cleaned and tested it. Luckily I have the old biomaterial to go in the filter, hopefully I can cut cycle time with it. Cleaned the gravel as...

    Adf

Sounds perfect. And yeah, I love seeing them in groups (although I only have one right now) because they'll be popping up and down a lot of time. In my experience they move more in groups.

    Adf

If your tank is a tall and not a long, you'll first want to make sure there's something he can sit on higher than the floor if he wants to. I have a 20 G with an ADF, and he chooses to sit on the floor, but he has decor that is almost as high as the tank, and well as plants he could sit on if he...

Is this article true about doubting quarantining?

I think the main point the article has was that if you just fill a ten gallon tank with tap water and dump new fish in, they're going to be stressed out, and in that case, quarantine is useless. I feel like this guy has obviously never had a really serious disease or parasite, the kind that can...

    Platys thrive all others die

Well I know corydoras are incredibly sensitive to aquarium salt, have you added any to your tank?

    No to bowls!

It disgusts me the size tanks that pet stores sell sometimes. Anything under 5 gallons needs to have a clearly defined list of what you can keep in there. The fact that WALMART sells fish just for people to stick in tiny tanks without filters or heaters until they die always makes me angry. I'm...

    Black Skirt Tetra aggression

When will the pecking order be arranged do you think? And will adding more help?

    Black Skirt Tetra aggression

Sorry for the late reply, didn't notice your message. About two months now. I got them all together as soon as my tank was cycled enough to add the load.

    Corydoras question

I have about a 2 foot tall tank, no problems with my corys.

Have you ever lost a fish in a tank?

And fish HIDE. That's mostly what I'm talking about in this thread haha.

Have you ever lost a fish in a tank?

I really should plug it. It's just about the right size for my neon tetras to swim in comfortably and never find their way out again, or for my frog to get stuck.

Have you ever lost a fish in a tank?

I still don't have any livebearer tanks, but I'm hoping to start up a small guppy tank soon. That ought to be interesting.

    Lighting and Heater question!

I don't think anything should go wrong. If the light puts off any heat, it could skew the heater temperature a little (if it auto heats based on water temp), but probably not enough to make a difference.

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

He would be the only live thing in there other than small plants. I do very frequent water changes on small tanks. I'll do some more research about whether or not the tank is too small. The brochure for ADF from Petsmart says the minimum can be a gallon, plus a few sites I found, one which...

    Black Skirt Tetra aggression

I've decided to give up and ask for help with my black skirts. So here's the backstory. I had a 10 gallon before I set up my 20 gallon, with 2 Blackskirt tetras, an ADF, and one cory cat. I realize now that was awful schooling numbers, and the pet shop should really have told me when I bought...

That actually is a good possibility.

    Mass Rainbow Death

That's crazy! I imagine it freaked him out too, to all of a sudden have fish jumping left and right. Hopefully they'll all recover okay.

    Crystal Clear Water

Mine will go from being cloudy to clear from week to week, sometimes day to day. Mine took about a month to just change from cloudy to clear when I first cycled.

Have you ever lost a fish in a tank?

Wow! I know there's a tiny hole on one of my decoration that a fish could get stuck in, maybe I should start checking it more often.

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

I've been BUSY today! Went out to garage and was delighted to find that my old 10 gallon tank is leak free and still has a working filter, just needs some heavy duty cleaning and some new decor, a new heater, and some kind of lid. I'm going to be dividing it, and rehoming one betta in there...

What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

I had a split tank with two bettas when I was probably about 7. I've always loved fish, and I loved aquariums. I was always catching tadpoles, minnows, and more in ponds and creeks, and keeping them overnight in vases and such. After the bettas passed away (I'll admit, we probably took bad care...

Have you ever lost a fish in a tank?

That's rough. Every time I do a water change with the vacuum I'm worried my ADF is going to dart in front of the tube and get sucked up. I'd be able to get him out, but I'm worried he'd hurt his legs or something. They're so fragile looking.
