    From reef to FOWLR

I have had a reef set up for 3 years. After about a year I got a bad case of cyano when my skimmer broke. I tried everything and it is still not completely gone. I slowly gave back my coral to the store because they were not happy. Anyway, what I have left is a 65 gallon tank with live...

    Aqua C Remora help

My skimmer stopped working. (I have the big model) It is only about a year and a half old. I took the whole thing apart and checked the pump, which is still working. I also brushed out the part where the screw is. Any ideas? Thanks!

    At wits end!

No more brine for us. I have been using a phosphate sponge every couple of days.

    At wits end!

My specific gravity is at 1.025. This is at 80 degrees. Should I raise it a little?

    At wits end!

I will test my water for phosphates but I buy it all at the water and ice store. I am just frustrated because it seems to be getting worse, not better. Shouldn't the phosphate sponges help? Should I keep brushing it off of the rocks? It seems to irritate my bubble coral when I do that.

    At wits end!

Yes, I do feed frozen brine a few times a week. I will stop that ASAP. I dose with b ionic daily. My alk levels are about 12 , but I could certainly raise that. I have been siphoning daily for 6 months, I am getting sick of it. I do have a lot of circulation. three powerheads in a 65...

    At wits end!

I have been battling cyano for almost 6 months, the last 2 being the worst. It is on every section of my live rock and the sand bed. Even if I suction it, it is back the next day. My corals look terrible, I only have 5, so I was thinking of bringing them to the LFS because I do not want to...

    Need help with cyano!

I dosed twice with the chemi clean and still have it. This is enough to make you quit the hobby! :o Thank you for the article, did you use the redox? If so what brand? I am going to do a water change now and add a phosphate sponge. Boy, this is frustrating.

    Need help with cyano!

I have a 65 gallon tank with live sand, 75 lbs of live rock, and a plenum. My skimmer was replaced within a few weeks of the failure; an aqua c remora pro. My po4 levels were within parameters, I tested it but did not write down the number. I change the water weekly, 10 percent. What is...

Ooops. I forgot to mention that I feed sparingly and always use RO water.

    adjusting aqua c skimmer

I can not find the book to my skimmer, I have the larger model. ( I am sure I put it in a "good" place) I forgot if raising the collection cup by lowering the O ring will increase or decrease the skimming. I need maximum skimming right now. TIA!

    Need help with cyano!

I have been battling cyano for several months now. It all started when my skimmer broke down. It was very controlable until about 2 weeks ago it started going crazy! It is like a carpet on the sand, I can not even siphon it out fast enough. It is all over my live rock, every available nook...

    Best Starfish?

I have a euchanaster (sp?) (got it from live aquaria) . I drip acclimated it for 6 hours and have had no problems with it. He is bright orange and on the smaller scale. I think mine is about 3 inches. I love him!

    New MH's on the way

I am replacing my bulbs after a year of use. Any suggestions? Should I just cut down the light time for the first couple of days?

    Tank of Doom!

Good to know , I will check it out. I would not buy corals at aquarium arts but I have occasionally bought fish there. I think some of them look sick because of the pale blue backing on their tanks. I do have to say that I have never had a sick fish from there in over 10 years. I am very...
