    Dyed parrot fish

I can understand how you feel about the poor fella who has had a rough start in life, but every time you buy them, you are just telling the store that it's OK to keep doing to even more fish. Sometimes it's best to let the few that are there suffer for the sake of not letting even more suffer...

    Dyed parrot fish

One time I saw some Fruitloop Tetras in a store and I just nicely dropped a hint to one of the employers there. I told him that I refuse to buy any fish which have been dyed and told him about a Website called deathbydyeing.org. He actually seemed interested.

    20g? Too small for goldfish?

From what I understand, the basic stocking rule for gold fish is 2 gal. of water for every inch of fish. I don't think a 20 gal. is too small unless you're getting something like Kois which are pond fish.

    Out of Control Fish Poo

Saw another big one from one of the videos on the side panel.

    Metal stand do I need.....

20g is not heavy enough to worry about. It's the bigger tanks that crack from the stress if they are not level.

This just goes to show that Walmart really stinks :P

How to get rid of fish?

Why put the size of tank. I am assuming that Jackiee doesn't want to give the tank itself away, but putting it in the ad would suggest that he is. I think Jackiee wants to keep the 20gal. tank for some other type of fish.

    Water in Vancouver, BC

Do you have any friends in any of the suburban areas like Surrey? The water is considered safe in most of the suburban areas, but I'd recommend using extra chlorine remover though. I'd suggest bring a big pail and getting some water from them or even some Surrey parks and rest stops or...

    This is whacky.

Yup, i am running IE7. The problem was I wouldn't have been able to read that sticky post because it would do the same thing, however I have managed to get the view normal by changing the forum style in my preference.

    Electric being shut off

Don't you have to charge the UPS up for it to actually work? I remember doing that with the older ones, but then again, maybe the technology has changed since. I think they had to be plugged in for at least 12 hrs or something like that before you can plug anything into them.

The best thing about MTS (multiple tank syndrome) is ....

One thing I like about having multiple tanks is that most water treatments usually treat 5 or 10 gallons at a time. With so many tanks, I can just do them all together instead of trying to measure a smaller amount of solution for a small tank without anything to measure by.

    This is whacky.

All the topics are centered and when I try to read a thread, this is what I see: What is with that?

anyone hate this new aa format?

The only thing that bothers me is where you would normally click on "Mark all topics read" on other sites, there's a "Watch this forum for new topics" link so you go to click on "Mark all topics read" while not paying enough attention and then all of a sudden your e-mail is being bombarded each...

New to Fish: Got Some Questions

I'm not sure about this one. I would think it was normal. The smaller one could be a male. Sometimes you can see the dorsel fin underneith the male. Maybe see if you can get another female in the tank so the male would stop harrassing her as much. Crushing flakes works fine. You may also...

    1g stocking suggestion

I hope your desk is very sturdy because eventhough you don't have a very huge tank, it can still get a bit heavy. Water weighs about 10 Lbs per gallon, plus there's probably 15-20 Lbs of gravel in the bottom.

    How Often Do You PWC?

I don't see an option for 1 1/2 weeks but that's usually how often I do my water changes. Usually on Sunday or Wednesday. I usually change about 25%.

    Dilema...please offer your support/advice

A few piranahs would work too. Don't know about the Northern parts but here in BC, it's not too cold.

    What a sucker!

Acrylic sheets are very cheap and easy to cut with basic wood cutting powertools using some soap and water for a lubricant and keeping the blade low. The only problem you might have is the edges may be rough unless you have a buffer to smooth it out. In highschool when I was in a plastics...

10 gallon stocking with cichlids, help?!?

I have a 15 gallon with two cichlids and ended up putting a divider in the tank because of the aggression. One is a Red Top Zebra and the other is what I believe to be a Melanochromis Auratus.

    BGK in a 55 gal?

You can put a BGK in a 29 gal. even. Do not put two or more BGKs in the tank though because their electrical fields which they use to navigate will confuse each other.
