    Missing Fish

Ok, so it's confirmed. My pike is eating the barbs. I finally found a half-eaten one floating this morning. So I won't be adding any more barbs to the aquarium while the pike is still around. Guess I'll get myself a couple blood parrots, then. But I could still use some bottom feeders and maybe...

    Missing Fish

Hmm... Methinks you all are correct. He is quite big compared to the others, but still doesn't seem big enough to fit them in his mouth. I was told when I got him that pikes tend to eat anything that'll fit. The barbs don't seem that small, but I suppose if they look fit for a meal to him, he's...

    Missing Fish

So, this past weekend I purchased a half dozen barbs for my aquarium. They seem to be happy in there, and tend to school out in the middle of the aquarium. But oddly enough for several mornings in a row I've gone to feed them and found a barb missing. There are only three in there right now, and...

    Canister Filter Setup

Actually, I was about to comment that someone had recommended using cinder blocks. I had gone to get a couple new fish since the last of my gouramis mysteriously got sick and died, leaving my pike cichlid all alone (it spent a lot of time hiding until it had new tankmates). I was chatting with...

    Canister Filter Setup

It's too late to return it as I had delays before I was able to try and get things setup, and I'm beyond the 90-day return policy. As for stools, I haven't seen any that are less than a foot wide.

    Canister Filter Setup

Like I said, I can't get a 5-gallon bucket to fit where I need it. The storage space in the stand opens up to the area behind the stand and under the aquarium, but it's only about a foot wide. And unless I'm going to completely drain the aquarium, remove all substrate, and get a friend to help...

    Canister Filter Setup

That is an option, but not at this time of year. I don't have anywhere indoors to work on such a project.

    Canister Filter Setup

I recently purchased a canister filter to replace the "over-the-back" filter currently in use for the last two years with my 44-gallon tank. The problem I have is that the aquarium and stand are too tall, and the required length of hose to reach from the filter to the inlet/outlet exceeds the...

    Hello Hello

Hey there, everyone. My name is Mike, and I've been doing aquariums on and off since I was a kid. At present I have a 44 gallon pentagonal corner aquarium that has been in operation for almost two years. It has seen a variety of residents during that time, various fish and crawfish.
