    Nitrate above 120

I will be checking my water tomorrow. I added java moss to try and help with the ammonia and nitrates

    Nitrate above 120

Sadly no. I checked my water today and ammonia and nitrites are no longer at zero. Both are low and nitrates are at 160. I did a 25% water change and added prime to neutralize all three. I haven't had any deaths yet so that's the only good news so far. I'm not sure what's going on with the...

    Nitrate above 120

I checked my tap and its around 5pm so that isn't it sadly. I did a 50% water changed and graveled vac most of my substrate. Hopefully this will lower it to at least half. Thank you for all the help [emoji4]. I don't want anymore casualties because of nitrates.

    Nitrate above 120

I will do another 30% water change now and see where my levels are after. I have had one neon tetra die on me already. Ammonia and nitrite are at 0. The tank is cycled and my stock is 8 neons and 2 ember tetras. With a few cherry shrimp. I haven't had this issue for more than a year now. My...

    Nitrate above 120

I did a 30% water change today and checked my water with the liquid kit and noticed that my nitrate was above 120! My ammonia and nitrite are at 0 and my tank isn't over stocked. It's a 10 gallon planted tank. The plants seem to all be doing fine. The only thing I have done recently is add...

    Chihiros led

Bottom layer is eco complete and top layer is fluval stratum. I use diy root tabs and that's practically it for nutrients for my tank. Don't have anything but root feeders.

    Chihiros led

Around 12, that's including 2 inches of substrate. I have the lights on for about 6 hours.

    Chihiros led

I've only been using excel so far but I do see new growth.

    Chihiros led

    It's carpeting but slowly

    Chihiros led

So I've had my chihiro led for about two weeks now and it's a excellent led. I have it on the second lvl and I've seen new growth coming from the Monte Carlo. I'm hoping it will do better once I include co2 into the tank

    Wanted: Finnex 24/7 20 inch

    Yes I am actually.

    Chihiros led

After reading the comments in that link i doubt I'll go past 4. I never thought that those tanks were running low/med light. I always figured to get a lush carpet of hg you would need high light and high co2.

    Chihiros led

To be honest I am mentally preparing myself for a algae problem, I'd prefer hair algae over bba though lol. The 20 inch version set me back about 35$ with free shipping.

    Chihiros led

Thank you for the link and par data. My plan was to gradually raise the light lvl up slowly but never going past 4/5. I'm guessing that should be enough to grow a decent Monte Carlo carpet. This is my first attempt at a carpet so fingers crossed.

    Chihiros led

Well I ended up buying the chihiros led. My plan is to tone down the light significantly and run in at around 3/4 for about 6-8 hours a day. I typically use root tabs only and not much liquid ferts besides excel. I'm hoping that along with the co2 will keep me away from a algae mess. The real...

    Neon tetra missing

No I don't have a lid or anything above the tank besides a finnex led. I checked the back of the tank and couldn't find anything. I noticed that it was the neon that would typically be inside the Val that has gone missing.

    Neon tetra missing

I have a nano tank with a few neon and albino tetras, i typically feed them once a day and noticed that I had one neon missing. I know for a fact they were all in the tank last nigh. I have a few red cherry shrimp and one Amano in the tank as well but I don't think these shrimp would go out and...

    Chihiros led

Oh yes know exactly what you mean. This hobby isn't cheap lol. Especially if you're into aquascaping like myself. I found a seller located in California that has the original A series so I'm going with that.

    Chihiros led

Thanks for the link [emoji1303]. Yea I think I might end up buying it over the 24/7 now after seeing those pictures. I'm just hoping I get the right model. Just went on eBay and found so many sellers/models for this brand.

    Chihiros led

I'm on the same boat. I wasn't really planning on using the 24/7 mode. I'll be around 12" so I'm guessing I might have to tone down the brightness if I want med light. Do they have a washed out effect on the plants and fish?

    Chihiros led

Thank you very much!! Looking forward to seeing that box and trying out co2 in my tank.
  22. HandSomeDevil13

    Chihiros led

I might shoot him a msg. I know you can lower the brightness on the led so if I do get crazy algae I might lower it.
  23. HandSomeDevil13

    Chihiros led

Yes I am currently in between this and the 24/7 finnex model. But if this chihiros is pushing out the same par as a 24/7 then I'd rather buy the chihiros led.

    Chihiros led

I'm looking at my options on led lights for my standard 10 gallon tank and stumbled across this led. I have noticed that they have a regular all white led model and a 5 color led model, my question is would either of these led's be considered mid light? Or am i better off buying the all white model?

    Low/medium light in 10 gallon

If that's cheap I'm curious at how expensive co2 can get?
