L333 Pleco and RO water additive

The source? Tap water from the city. There's no doubt the tap water is awful. API test kits. City water report even reports the PH at 9.

L333 Pleco and RO water additive

Hi Everyone, this question is a little complex so bear with me! I have terrible tap water. 8.9/9.0 PH out of the tap. 5 KH and 15GH. I recently obtained some L333 they seem to be doing well in RO water treated with Seachem Neutral Regulator. PH settled around 7.2 with the Neutral Regulator...

    Additive to RO water

If I can just mix RO with tap at a certain percentage that would make life a lot easier :-)

    Additive to RO water

Hi guys, My water is pretty rough here. Ph is 8.8 out of the tap with a KH of 71.6ppm (4 drops) and a GH of 268. Ppm or (15 drops). I believe the list time I checked TDS it was around 300. The water here comes from a river that travels through a bunch of limestone and has a lot of fertilizer...

Is there any way to raise KH without raising GH?

    Water hardness

I'm probably going to have to switch over to RO water and then add shrimp + or something.

    Water hardness

I specifically bought shrimp that have been bread in this level of GH. My ph is stable around 7 as long as I do weekly water changes. If I let it go more than a week ph start dropping.

    Water hardness

Hello everyone. I have never really tested my water hardness before and wanted to double check something. I have about 10 Blue Dream shrimp in a 55 gallon. The hardness of the tank was measured with an API test kit. GH - 15 drops or 268.5ppm (looks like this converts to 15.67 grains) KH...

    Fishroom with central sump

With further thought. I would like to drill bulkheads into 10 gals or at least try... on the sides. Then flexible tubing to PVC drain pipe that leads to the sump. I am still lost on how to make a PVC or some sort of manifold for return water from the return pump.

    Fishroom with central sump

Hi Guys, I want to make a simple guppy breeding rack. I would like some sort of set up with either plastic containers or 10 gallon tanks. I really need help with understanding how to build a central filter. Googling a lot of this I find so many different ideas it is all confusing. I know...

Intake cover for Whisper internal filters

I might be able to hunt down a filter media bag hopefully. Somewhere.

Intake cover for Whisper internal filters

I think I'm going to have to go with pantyhose. No idea where to get a sponge big enough.

Intake cover for Whisper internal filters

Hi Guys, I have two whisper 30i internal filters and I want to use them on a shrimp tank. The problem I am having is they have a very large rectangular intake and I am not sure how to cover it with foam to make it shrimp safe. Anyone have any any advice? I have included a link to the...

    Best shrimp substrate

Thanks Nils. I might have some just normal aquarium gravel somewhere. Most of the substrates I have raise PH like Eco Complete and are not very shrimp friendly for establishing a colony. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Best shrimp substrate

So, I'm looking at starting a 10 gallon RCS colony. I want a good substrate that is PH neutral. My PH seems to hang around 6.9 to 7.2. I see quite a few posts with a brown round substrate. No idea what it is? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Ammonia in well water?

I'd hold off on doing much until you believe your cycle is complete. If you manage to see ammonia drop to 0 in 12 hours, prime should protect your fish. From everything I've researched it stays active for 24 hours. I know prime is so effective it can slow your cycle even so it would probably be...

    Ammonia in well water?

I can't promise anything with well water but what I would do is order some Seachem Prime. Prime will detoxify the ammonia until the biological filter, once established can take care of it. If you would like to lower you PH crushed coral either in a filter or in the tank itself will slowly drop...

    dying tetra/ weird guppies

I've never heard anyone say guppies were a poor choice for planted tanks in my life. That's definitely more of an opinion. Most guppies are pretty adaptable and just need stability. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Amazon sword turning red??

Cali, I don't think so. Yours actually looks way more sword like than mine. Your leaves are more spade like and are all a nice size. My leaves are growing way too fast and are almost 6inches wide :-( Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Amazon sword turning red??

I also have to mention I absolutely hate this plant. I was looking at it tonight and it's leaves are getting so large that I am not even sure what I'm going to do with it. That tank is a 60 gallon tall that is basically being used to hold all the plants I've either ordered or found for 50% off...
