    Purple algae/fungus???

I've had this tank set up for over a year now and no issues except for crazy nitrate cycle when it was first set up. I usually leave the tank light on longer than I probably should which is why I have green algae on the sides of the tank which doesn't bother me much since it's just cosmetic...

Keeping male and female goldfish together

I looked up the temperature range for plecos and got a few different answers but I don't remember seeing such a high temp. My tank is at 70 degrees F and I thought the pleco would've been okay. Argh fish keeping can be so complicated. I'm glad I didn't try a saltwater tank Sent from my...

Keeping male and female goldfish together

I don't plan on adding anything until I upgrade to a larger tank. All of my fish I have right now besides one are under 3 inches since they're still very young. Yeah I also didn't know my pleco would be getting that big when I got him. My mistake :( Not sure why they're so commonly sold when...

Keeping male and female goldfish together

No reason in particular. I just really wanted a female goldfish since I don't think I've ever had one. I got a 46 gal in the beginning of March and I plan on getting a bigger tank since I have 4 Goldies AND a common pleco. I want so many fish and I want koi so bad I really need to just invest...

What Made You Want A Freshwater Aquarium?

I LOVE koi but I don't have the money or room to make a pond so I decided to get the next best similar fish which are comet goldfish and I plan on getting a shubunkin. They can be so mesmerizing to watch. Not good quality photos but it's good enough :') Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

Keeping male and female goldfish together

I'm being selfish and I want to get a female goldfish to keep with my other males but I wasn't sure if it would be cruel to have her with them. I know there's the possibility of them breeding but don't they eat the eggs if they aren't hidden? I guess my question is: Am I able to keep male and...

My comet goldfish gets blackish clolor

Hmm. Are you able to take a photo of the fish turning orange and show me? I'm glad your other fish returned to normal. I lost a few fish to an ammonia spike, they turned all black. :'( Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

My comet goldfish gets blackish clolor

Maybe it's just a normal color change but the majority of my fish actually died when I put them in an uncycled tank and they turned black but also on their bodies too. Is there an ammonia spike? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Goldfish discoloration

Here's before I moved them to the 46 gal. This is when I was putting my pleco and shubunkin into the 10 gal until my bigger tank was completely filled up. I miss my babies :'( Should've cycled the tank before moving them. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Goldfish discoloration

Actually maybe it was ammonia burns since the tank wasn't cycled. It is now though. My pleco is doing great And has grown a bit and my last Goldie is all cleared up and his color is bright and healthy looking.

    Goldfish discoloration

Yes I did, I got the API freshwater master test kit. Nitrites and nitrates were at 0. The pH was actually really high which confused me since I had been using SeaChem Neutralizer. I'm pretty sure I did a 50% water change before I tested the water and the ammonia was kind of high too which...

Sorry if I'm not in the right section I'm new. ALSO SORRY IN ADVANCE FOR THE EXTREMELY LONG POST! So let me start off by saying when my sister was in 4th or 5th grade (she's in 7th now) she brought home a little goldfish from her science class after they were finished with their lab. Now I've...
