I haven’t been able to attach pics for years. I use my on line photo app and add links to photos when I post. Not the best option but it’s the only way I’ve been able to get around the problem.

I think the tank is too small for the fish you already have in there. But that’s just an opinion. I would put the fish in a minimum 10G and up the school to a single species of 10. Use the 5.5 for shrimp after it has a few months of age. Put some snails in there to help the tank mature.

Spring water isn’t really for fish tanks. Everything I have read recommended RO water remineralized with something like Seachem Equalibrium. Fish need minerals in the water. If the fish are itchy and slime coat is out of whack you might try Seachem Stress Guard too to help them heal.

Can you be specific on the water? Type and prep. How frequent and % change?. Is flashing constant or only at certain times?

I’ve cultured grindal worms for years and they are always the most popular food for my fish. For my shrimp, I’ve been getting foods from Meadowview Aquatics. All of the foods are a hit.

I was never happy with any barbs I tried. Always chasing and fighting. I have been happy with my Dwarf Neon Rainbows.

I found it impossible to attach java to smooth rock. I glued moss to them instead. Rough porous rock or wood is easier.
