    My 29 gallon reef tank

It's been a while since I last posted. Every thing in the tank is running smoothly, only issue is the rise of red algae which I'm combating with the tricks I was told. Corals are growing, fish is happy, and tank looks pretty. I'll try to get a photo of it up here soon.

Should I be concerned with these Star fish?

I noticed these guys on my live rock. I noticed that they were starfish but I could not tell if they at the ones that are coral. I'm hoping they are just algae eaters.

    My 29 gallon reef tank

Thanks for all the comments on the corals guys it means a lot to hear it. And about the feeding, the cardinal was eating what I gave them. I wonder if it was an issue that he was to slow to get enough food before the Gramma. Anyways the positive comments on my tank made up for the loss of a...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

Yes it is. I'm very proud of that one coral it went from 5 heads to 20 in 9 months, all because I added better lights and water.

    My 29 gallon reef tank

So I lost my cardinal. Don't know what happened to him. He was always shy but when I came home today he was just dead, no injuries, no sign of sickness. Everything else is ok. So now I'll be fish shopping soon, let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

    Brooksters 29 gal reef

This tank looks stunning. I think my tank has the same dimensions? But only difference is yours looks a lot better, I'm going to guess this is not your first reef tank, and if I'm wrong then you have the golden touch.

    My 29 gallon reef tank

I'm finally going to kick back on the skimmer today after letting the chem clean kill off the red algae I could not get rid of. My zoas are completely uncovered and there is no more of it encroaching on my torch. I'm going to try and photograph my tank once it's back and looking good again...

What Did You do With Your Tank Today?

Well I started the process of killing off the red algae in my tank. So far corals have closed up from the red algae dying. But hopefully no serious damage will be done to them. Tomorrow I do the 20% water change the instructions tell me to do. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    My 29 gallon reef tank

So an update on my tank. Red algae is slowly going away, so it's better but not all the way gone. Fish are still alive and so are 2 of my snails I got awhile back. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    My 29 gallon reef tank

I'm not. It's just the salt water that was pre mixed at my lfs. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    My 29 gallon reef tank

So I lost another snail. I came home to see that one of my blue legged hermit crabs had decided to have a snack on the snail that could not stick to the wall. Red algae is still getting worse and I don't know the source of it. I keep adding salt to the tank because every thing I have that reads...

    Corals vs refractometer

Ok so I just checked everything. My hydrometer said I was at 1.023, my refractometer said 1.021. So I went a head and took water out and added salt in. I'm waiting a bit to let it all mix to see how everything is doing Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Corals vs refractometer

Ok. And my saltwater is already premixed at my lfs. I'll try the hydrometer as well. I think my issue was I used a lot of tap water to clean off my refractometer and even though I dried it my results kept showing my water was to fresh. When I get home I'm going to rinse it off with ro/di water...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

I usually stir the sand daily anyways. I'm going to do a water change tonight because I think I have to much salt in my tank. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    My 29 gallon reef tank

I just cleaned about my skimmer last night and added a new carbon sponge in it. I'll try and do more water changes to see if that helps. I should mention it's not bad but it's on the sand and it's annoying. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Corals vs refractometer

Yes, salt water. And I don't know how to recalibrate it. All I can do is hope that the tank is not to salty until I can work on it tommorow afternoon. I'll probably bring it to my lfs and see if they can calibrate it for me.

    Corals vs refractometer

So I don't know if I should add more salt water to my tank or freshwater. My refractometer says my salt is low but when I added salt all my corals shrunk up. When I added fresh back in they started to come back. So I don't know if I should judge on my meter or my corals reaction. My meter says...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

So far everything is living. Fish are fine snails are good, I can't tell about the hermit crabs. But I have run into the red algae again because I now have to feed the fish. I'm feeding very little on a every other day basis. My lights are on for 9 hours (1 hour moon lights, 8 hours normal...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

Ok. I'm going to try a clean up crew again because I have green algae for the first time, and that's what they eat. The fish acclaimed well to the tank last night. They chased each other occasionally but I think that will go away. No dead fish smell this morning so I know nothing jumped out last...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

Sorry that I have not posted in a while. I just picked up 2 new fish. A royal grama and a bangi cardinal. Recently I have felt less about my tank as I have no clue how people keep there's so clean and the costs of maintaining such a beautiful tank are beyond me right now. Anyways hopefully these...

    My 29 gallon reef tank

It's been a while since I last updated. Just re-arranged my rocks to give a different look. All my corals are unhappy because they are in new homes and got touched during the move. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    My 29 gallon reef tank

I figured out the problem my salt level was around 15 when I got home today where as I usually keep it at 24. I got it back up to 21.5 to 22 and some of the corals are starting to look a bit better. Don't think my gold torch will pull though though. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice
