A lighter back ground would help, that's the "cheapest" option. Over here across the pond led lighting is very cheap. I find the blue a bit dull too, hence I have one white, one blue, and one multi coloured on three separate switches.
Can you not get a small tank to put them in on their own? Like a small plastic 2 litre one from Walmart or something? Make a second tank, so they don't get eaten?
What's your temp & pH etc? Fish like different parameters. I've two blacks and they are quite active

You can buy this sort of thing on aliexpress and have it all shipped to your house. 5m (15' ?) Of air hose is about $1, the t-pieces to make the extra outlets are 10/$1, and the actual pumps are about $5.

With one Betta it's not gonna get dirty for a long time, nobody can say 100% but if you at least check it once a week, and clean it if it needs it?

I just thought - our local hardware store (bricomart - I'm in Spain) has replacement florescent tubes, the same sizes as the "old" style ones. Wouldn't your local hardware store have them? Or even Walmart etc?

As above, it's too hot. Is the heater set? Mines got a twisty red nob on top? Turn it right down and see if it turns off?

Hi, (first post). I bought an led waterproof aquarium tube with suckers on, from aliexpress. It was under $10 delivered. I took all the "guts" for the old florescent tubes out and use these instead. The plants grow fine in there too. Ok, delivery time was about 3 weeks, but at that price it...
