    Is my platy pregnant?

Top one is a male. I'm not sure on the bottom one. Females will have a fan shaped anal fin, while males have a rod shaped anal fin.

    Bristlenose Fry

Some of the older fry are near 2 inches now, most are around 1 inch long. I found 2 that are the normal dark coloration. It's hard to spot them on the black sand as they blend in.

    Bristlenose Fry

Just an update on my Bristlenose hatches. Two more hatches have happened in the same tank so there are fry of all sizes/ages in here. The babies are growing up so fast:) One of the possible dad's as he always has eggs in his cave, I love his long bristles!

    Ghost Shrimp Breeding/baby survival

Ghost shrimp young float in the water column when first hatched, so if there are fish in the tank, the young will not make it long enough to hide.

    Shelf Help

Thanks for the info! I'm still reading through your thread and I love it. I need a building like yours:D After seeing the way you built your racks I am considering doing mine similarly. Seems more cost effective, but the blocks take up room in my smaller building.

    Shelf Help

Thanks, I was not going to use plywood but probably will since the brace will be needed. I am just going to make it 8 ft long with extra bracing, I'll always need more shelf room it seems. Now time to redraw the plans.

    Shelf Help

I am planning to build a shelf for 10 of my 10 gallon aquariums, 5 on the bottom shelf and 5 on top turned sideways to make them fit. Wood being used would be 2x4s. The planned dimensions would be 5ft. long X 2ft. wide X 54in. tall. Would I need to add a board in the center of the shelf for...

    Pregnant platy?

Hi, they can not breed together as Mollies are of the genus Poecilia, and Platies are Xiphophorus. Mollies can breed with Guppies, and Platies can breed with Swordtails. Your platy does look gravid. Many livebearers, including Platies, can store sperm from the males for later use, like when a...

    Kanamycin Dosage Help Please

I bought some kanamycin powder from ebay but it came with no dosing instructions. Anyone know how much to use in a 20 gallon aquarium?

Red cherry shrimp not breeding anymore

I've used hydrogen peroxide to get rid of blue green algae, but I've never tried it in a shrimp tank.

    Tips on breeding Mollies?

They also like high temperatures, around 76-80F. Mine drop fry more often in the warmer tanks.

    New Here From GA

I have! That is the whole reason I got into dwarf shrimp. I like a few of the other Sulawesi shrimp as well. I keep making excuses as to why I haven't purchased any yet, I find it kinda hard to justify spending so much $$ on a such a small shrimp. My family already thinks I'm crazy:hide: I guess...

    Neo287's Fishroom (Pic Heavy)

Thanks guys, it is really nice to just have most of the tanks together, maintenance time is reduced by half the time it took before. It took a lot of time to collect the tanks, but hopefully they will be worth it! Can't wait for the auto-water change system. shellyx, the adult BN males do a bit...

    Neo287's Fishroom (Pic Heavy)

Just a few more photos... The Community tank: Hifin Platies, sorry for the photo quality, they are always moving super fast! Ordered them online and they sent me all males. No worries though as I have found a female at the lfs, just waiting to put them together in case disease shows up...

    Neo287's Fishroom (Pic Heavy)

Hi all, so here is my fish room. It is actually a fish building, but I call it a room since it is on the small side. Soon I hope to add diy wooden shelves next and an automatic water change system. One thing I do like about it is I got my dad to install a water outlet near the building so I...

    Help dirt tannins!

Benefits? I haven't a clue as I don't bake my soil. Just thought it unnecessary since anything living in it would probably drown when the water is added.

    Bristlenose Fry

@Andy Sager, Gotcha on the brine shrimp, I'll have to pick some up and try it. Good idea on the rocks too, I had a piece of driftwood soaking in a bucket for a while and added it today to the fry tank and almost all of them are hanging out on it now. I have to get a photo as they are a lil...

    Breeding Fish

Your tank looks nice:thumb: I have no experience with tetras, but I have plenty of livebearer fish! I've noticed in my guppy and molly females that they have fry more often when the water temperature is around 78-80F. I also get larger amount of fry dropped in the warmer tanks. Remember that...
