how do I get this stuff to go away on my plants in my snail/plant tank only. It's driving me nuts!!!

Few of my plants have started to get this brown fuzz on them, when I do a water change I can kinda rub some of it off but days later it's back... My snails don't seem to eat it off the plants.

Why do snails float for a few hours to a few days... None were floating before a water change now 4 are floating half open and seem kinda lifeless...

Best food for snail? Best water quality? Anything that I should know because my LPS didn't really know much on snails. "I'm new to planted tanks and snails"
