Yes I've been doing ice in a baggy and floating it on the water surface, after 3-4 bags of ice it only brings it down about 3 degrees but ultimately a goes right back up... My room temp is roughly around 70-73 depending on the time of day (centralized AC/heater so all year around is the same).

I do have a heater in my tank, a 50w tetra heater. The red light indicater is never on since it's already so hot. I did assume that my thermometer was busted so I used a second thermometer and it said the same thing.

Hello~ I've recently got a bath of Brazilian Pennyworts. It's been planted in my tank and been going for about 3-4 days but for two stems it is kinda melting away.... I don't get why it seems like this is the only plant that's basically dying. My anubias nana (planted 14in away) is doing great...

Nope nothing of sorts. And as for any chemicals that I do put within the tank, I only use Leaf Zone for the plants but i don't think that can do this.... right?

Just as the title says, one of my freshly brought yellow shrimps has a black spot on the back of its head. I've read somewhere that this might be its "saddle" but I want to confirm this. I've attached a pic of it the only one I was able to take before it went behind my drift wood.

Pics The tank is a tetra glow 16x8x10. The driftwood was prepared in weeks in advance and was in there ever since the start of the tank. As you can see on the first pic it's a strand off of the almond leaves and on the second pic it's basically covering my moss ball
