    Plenum?

Has anyone used a plenum in a planter tank? What’s the diff between a plenum and an undergravel filter? I’ve watched YouTube by dr Kevin novac. I can’t seem to tell the diff.

    Algae Issues

I don’t know if this will help as it states it’s not safe for shrimp. I have the same problem. Been battling a long time already. Out of desperation I used Pond Algae Relief by Jungle. It’s really strong so you only need a little bit but I’ve found using drops for several days has turned all...

    Water change

Because you have a 1:1 ration fish/gal you will have to do more frequent water changes.... this is a very high ratio that causes ammonia levels, nitrates and nitrites to be very high. (Large bioload). You can combat this by 1) giving the fish a bigger tank or removing some of the fish. Some...

    Oscar fish

Temps dropped severely here last week. This guy has a heater but I placed this heat lamp here for a bit of additional heat. (Melted a bit of my tank rim oooops) it’s placed better now because he seems to love so I had to put it back. He had a fit when I moved it lol

    Plants in filter

I am doing the same. Just started it up and put some ghost shrimp in it also. I’ve got my return flowing into it just to keep less equipment in the tank. Are you seeing any results? My stuff is rooting real nice now.

    Trickle wet dry filter

Here’s a pic of my new trickle filter. Working like a charm so far but in retrospect I wish I had bought it in black. I’m concerned about the light from my window hitting it so I ended up blocking the back of it now. It got great reviews on YouTube. I am pleased I am able to grow plants out of...

    Excel-thread algae

I second the advice above. Watch your tank at different intervals of the day too. I had one that kept having algae in the same spot although the window was across the room. Low and behold late in the day there was just a slim beam of light between that cake through everyday beaming directly on...

    Brown Algae

I did ALL of the above (literally) and added pothos to my filter. It took a long time for me to get rid of it. Physically removing it was the best way to beat it, along with all of the above, getting the lighting stable and timed took some practice too. I also added a daily dose of carbon. But...

    Weird growth from Anubis

I think what your seeing is this is not Anubis. It’s possibly java fern. Hard to tell.
