    Diary of the 10G GBR/Bolivian Grow-Out Tank w/pics 7/22/06..

That's too bad - I hope the die-off ends quickly and your fry get back to thriving again...

    GF's first tank....I'm jealous

Can't say I blame the fish - I'd probably jump if I saw you coming at me topless, too! :D  :bowl:

    Need help choosing tropical fish.........

Otos do better in groups - you're pushing being overstocked if you add anything, but if you do add something, I'd make it a couple more otos.

How to get rid of these snails ?

Yoyo loaches and burmese border loaches are known snail assassins, too...

    30gal re-do.....before and after

I'm leaning more and more towards making watersprite and/or wisteria a key component of my tank. Have you been happy with them so far? Any real difference between the two?

    Artificially raising Keyhole cichlids REPORT.

I know it's been said, but this thread is a terrific read - and a belated congrats on your tremendous success! I'd love to keep keyholes someday - there may just be a 29 gallon species tank in my future if I can ever come across them (I think I actually saw some recently at an LFS out in the...

Picked up some fish today :)

I think it's a hit or miss thing - I've just had better luck with cardinals, I suppose. Also, note that it's been years since I've kept either cardinals or neons...

Fish that are fun to watch

I second the thought that clown loaches are a pleasure to watch (in fact, probably my favorite fish to watch when they're in groups), but also highly underscore the fact that they should NOT be kept in a 29 gallon tank. I also think cories and otos are a lot of fun, and like YoYo, Zebra, and...

Picked up some fish today :)

Glad other people have success with neons - I never really have... I guess that's why I prefer rummynose and cardinals...

What are some good first livebearers?

Guppies scare me - it's so easy to cross breeding lines no matter how careful you are...

Good luck from me, too :D

Diary of the 29G planted tank... New pics 4/28/07

I wonder how much attention the Rams will pay the otos once they spawn again. Hopefully none - otos have great little personalities...

Diary of the 29G planted tank... New pics 4/28/07

Re: Bamboo... I don't know whether or not it will hurt the fish, but I do know that, as it is not a true aquatic, it will eventually begin to rot below water. It might be ok for some time, but eventually it will go bad...

Bristle Nose Pleco or Oto cat?

What about an LDA-08 (Gold Marble Bristlenose)? I believe they max out at about 3" and don't need to be kept in groups...

Diary of the 29G planted tank... New pics 4/28/07

I like either the neons or planted options - or maybe both? Then again, you know way more about this stuff than I do ;)

YO YO Loaches Peaceful or not?

Personality-wise, in peoples' experiences, how do YoYo's vary from B. kubotai?

    What LFS do you use?

Old Town Aquarium on Wells at North Ave in Chicago is my LFS of choice. Living in the city, I've gotten over the "shock" in sticker shock and accept the fact that OTA is going to be a bit pricey - but they take great care of their stocks, really know their stuff, and the guy who has befriended...

    Cycling aquariums with snails

But a snail is still a relatively simple organism with simple biological functions - a single snail is highly unlikely to provide enough ammonia to grow a large enough colony of good bacteria and cycle the tank...

Great shots! How do your kribs and Rams get along?

    Kribs question

Thanks for the input, all. I think I've decided to stick with the Rams for now -- while I've begun to secretly plan a kribs species tank for the future...hehehe...
